Time-Turner

Supplies
2 keychain rings (make sure one is bigger than the other)
Wire
Head pin or looped ear wire (optional)
2 small beads (make sure they both fit between your two rings)
2 nicely shaped beads
2 teardrop-shaped glass beads or an hourglass charm
Sculpey
Glitter

Instructions
Using head pins or looped ear wire (or normal wire), attach one of the outer beads (use the nicely shaped ones), to the big keychain, then to a small bead, then to the small ring. If the wire won’t turn the small ring, wedge a bit of the Sculpey between the parts of the larger ring, to force it apart, just a bit, and allow room for the wire to turn. Repeat on the other side.Put the jump rings in place by pushing them into the splits of the biggest ring, approximately at 11 and 1 o’clock.

If you are using an hourglass charm, use wire to tie it to the smallest ring. If you are using teardrop-shaped beads, tie them together with a little bit of wire (make sure it’s not obvious, as you will have to cover it with Sculpey.

Carefully apply a layer of Sculpey over the keychain rings (fill the splits likewise) and in the space between the smallest ring an the charm or teardrop-shaped beads.

Bake according to the package instructions, then make the final retouches if necessary.

Finish off your timeturner by adding a bit of glitter.

Please note that the patterns and tutorials you find here have been designed by Harry Potter fans all over the Internet. The authors alone hold the copyrights and licences to these patterns and tutorials, which means you CANNOT use their patterns to make something that you will sell to others afterwards. You can use them to make things for yourself. You can make some for your friends and ask them to pay for supplies. You CANNOT, however, ask them to pay you to do it as though you had created this pattern by yourself, or try to sell you crafts to a local store.

Think about it. Would you take a Prisoner of Azkaban book, photocopy it, put your name in big red letters on the front cover and try to sell it in your local library? The answer is, obviously, no. Well, selling crafts you have made but not designed would be just as bad!

Please note that posting a picture of a finished object on Leaky Lounge will be taken as permission for the photo to be included in the Harry Potter Crafts gallery. If you do NOT wish your photos to be included in this gallery, please PM a Crafty Witch at the time of posting.

On that note, Harry crafting to all!

Normally, you can view bigger versions of the pictures by following the same path as what can be found in the crafts section. So, in the case of the timeturner

Harry Potter Crafts > Jewelry > Wizarding Devices > Time-Turner.

I have just noticed that those pictures don't work right now however. I'll try to see what's going on and post here again once they are up and running.

And no, there aren't any step by step pictures, but if you need precision on one of the step, just mention it here and I'll do my best to help you.

Astarte has step by step photos in her album on the Yahoo! Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HarryPotterCrafts/.

Hope that helps!

That's for the big version of the time-turner though... Not for the small version Astra first created. The steps are quite different for them.

No... Astarte's timeturner is made with huge rings, whereas Astra's is made using small keyrings.

For those who aren't part of the group, Astarte's time-turner *will* be up soon!

Hi there. I am new here but I saw the picture of the Time Turner made by Astarte and I wanted to try making one. Unfortunately I am no good with sculpey so I tried making one with keychains and beads and wire. Please let me know what you think.

I was wanting to make several of them for a Harry Potter party that we are having in October. Any comments or suggestions would be great before I start making more of them.

PLease note the wire that runs through the center looks pretty crooked in this picture but I have since replaced it with a straight one so everything lines up better.

You can see a picture of it here: http://cmpbaker.googlepages.com/timeturner

Sorry for the bad shadow in the background.

Thanks for your help,

Christine

Hi Christine,

I saw your Time Turner on the HP Y! craft group. It really is wonderful and I think they'll make awesome gifts for your HP party. I have all the parts to make Astarte's Time Turner, which I hope to do soon. It is very cool, but more of a display item. I'd love to see a tutorial for your Time Turner. I have an 11 year old daughter that would really like one like that to wear to school! I wouldn't mind one either!
