The Featured FanArtist for March 2008 is someone who revels in the intense, stark beauty of black and white. Tom Scribble ![]() Tom Scribble delights in graphic depictions of canon scenes from the books, but also presents the viewer with a glimpse at scenes implied in the books, but not actually seen, like this one of Dumbledore finding the horcrux/ring/resurrection stone -- ![]() The way she uses shadow and light are just amazing, and the incredible detail of her fully-realised scenes is a delight and a wonder! You can find more of her fantabulous work at deviantART -- www.tomscribble.deviantart.com. Take a long look at her art, and see how it draws you in. Compelling as the words of JK Rowling that have brought us all here, so, too are Tom Scribble's drawings. Enjoy! -------------------- |

I do not seek out fan art myself, necessarily, but Tom Scribble's work has been referenced in several posts here on the lounge, which I checked out, and was floored by how much the work really brings the books to life in a meaningful, approachable, and exquisitely elegant way. She is able to make black and white interpretations vibrant and "colorful" through attention to detail and interpretation--no mean feat! Congratulations and thank you, Tom Scribble!

Oh, my. I think I'm in love with her Order of the Phoenix drawing. What great work, and I've only begun to peek at her drawings! Here is that amazingly detailed look at a meeting of the OotP at Grimmauld Place --
Her use of light and shadow are so wonderful here, and the facial characterizations are spot-on! Check out little Kreacher slinking off behind Sirius with his discarded treasures. This post has been edited by Hagiographer13: Nov 19 2008, 05:15 AM -------------------- |

This is an amazing piece of art! I keep going back to look at it over and over again. Look how stiff and uncomfortable Snape is. I love it! -------------------- ![]() W.L.Y.J. We love you Jo |

I have always been a fan of Tom Scribble's work, and like the way she uses tone and definition. These three below are my favourites:
![]() Harry touching the Patronus of Prongs really gets me, and shows beautifully the problem Harry faces during the books in relating to his parent's lives. A spaced out looking Luna Lovegood engrossed in the latest edition of the Quibbler. With what could be a bottle of Gurdyroot juice on the side table. ![]() I think this one called Ink Parchment is a very inventive concept. Using Sectumsepra for something useful instead of maiming someone. All these and more can be found in the Leaky FanArt Galleries. This post has been edited by Hagiographer13: Nov 19 2008, 05:17 AM

Tom Scribble produced a pair of images of the Muggle and non-Muggle version of the War Memorial in Godric's Hallow that are truly stunning!
This was such a wonderfully poignant moment in Deathly Hallows and this detailed vision of that is very powerful! The non-Muggle version can be found here at deviantART. This post has been edited by Hagiographer13: Nov 19 2008, 05:20 AM -------------------- |

Count me in as another fan of this piece! I don't know if it was done on purpose, but placing Snape and Sirius on each head of the table is fantastic. The way both of these characters is drawn is fantastic. Snape is all dressed in black, while Sirius is reflecting in the light. The light is another amazing part of this piece. How the artist is able to so accurately portray how light reflects down on those seated amazes me. This is another piece which just amazes me.
