Following is from the last post in Part 3:
QUOTE(CapriciousC @ Jul 31 2008, 03:09 PM) I've also read that the love triangle is definitely over. Bella says in the first book that once she makes a decision, she doesn't look back. I don't think there will be any more angst about her choosing Edward, at least on her side.
I wonder if today's quote would be something Jacob said to one of the Denali clan members? I don't think that the anger they have toward the werewolves for killing Laurent is over - I have a feeling it's going to rear its ugly head once more.
I do like Jacob, and I definitely feel for him. I haven't been a teenager for 20 years, but I do remember how tempestuous emotions can be at that age, and how hard it can be to let go of your first love. I still remember mine fondly.

Hey gang!
I know I haven't logged on to the threads in weeks - and unfortunately I don't have time to catch up here before BD - but I heard that people are posting their final predictions. So...here are mine. Sorry they're so long - feel free to ignore, lol! Happy revamping and reading BD, everyone!!!!! And Go Team Edward!!!
Bella and Edward will get married about 1/3 of the way into the book and Bella will be changed into a vampire about 40% into the book.
Bella will be happy about the wedding ceremony at the last minute – as soon as she sees Edward glowing with joy as she walks down the aisle. Edward will write his own vows and they will be incredibly romantic (duh!) and Bella will say something less poetic but equally heartfelt in the moment, after being so dazzled by Edward that she forgets everyone else is there.
There will be a minor scene with Tanya where Bella will be jealous. Of course, Edward won't do anything with Tanya though.
Edward will keep his word and will attempt to give Bella her human experience, but I still think something might happen to postpone it until after her change. Either way, we will get a very romantic scene!
Bella and Edward will both grow more secure in each other's unbreakable love and learn to feel more worthy of that love – though always in awe of the other one.
Jacob will mature and finally understand the depth of Bella and Edward's love after experiencing true love himself. He will imprint by the book's end – but not with someone from the Denali clan or Angela. Possibly someone new or Leah. I think we'll find out that in extremely emotional circumstances imprinting can be temporarily blocked. Leah's misery over losing Sam and Jacob's over Bella may have kept them from imprinting in the usual way (i.e. immediately after changing) but when each lets go of their bitterness it will happen. In that way, we'll get a message about forgiveness, letting go, and moving on with one's life.
I think Charlie will find out the truth and (eventually) approve of Bella's choice because it is what is best for her and makes her happy. He will feel better about Edward, too. Charlie might marry Sue Clearwater and finally be able to move on from Renee!
Bella will have multiple special powers as a vampire – including an aversion to human blood. This will simplify her difficult newborn period and make her transition into a regular vampire happen much sooner than expected. She will metamorphosis from a weak, blood-filled human, to an unpredictable newborn, into a strong and victorious queen with her king, Edward, by the novel's end (cover art). The chess game will be her journey throughout the books and also the final battle with the Volturi. Bella and Edward will have an eternally happy ending and be in love forever!
The Volturi will be the main problem in the book and Bella will get to defend the Cullens for a change – including a scene where she saves/defends Edward. I think Bella will be the one who has to destroy Jane – and possibly will be the only one who can fight Alec's special power, which will be revealed in battle. I don't think the Volturi will necessarily be decimated, but several of the henchmen (Jane, Alec, Felix, etc.) will die and the Volturi will realize that there is a line they can not cross because the Cullens will fight them if they do. The Volturi will remain the "police" force of the vampire world, ensuring vampires don't get out of hand or reveal their secret, but the Cullens will be prepared to police the Volturi if the Volturi gets too all-powerful in the future.
I think the friendship with the Denali clan will be compromised and severely diminished (as it was from their lack of help in Eclipse), but maybe not completely ruined.
The Cullens and the Pack will have to reunite once again and the treaty will either be completely dissolved – or more likely rewritten with much more leniency. At the end the two will have a greater understanding and respect for the other and see that they don't HAVE to be mortal enemies, but still may not ever be actual friends (except for good old Seth!). Leah will be an instigator of trouble but that will eventually get resolved.
None of the Cullens will die.
I don't think there will be any vampire-wolf hybrids.
The allusion to AMSND will be very vague. I think it might be a reference to the play within a play theme and not the primary AMSND characters themselves. Instead, the allusion will involve Thisby and Pyramus, which, as it is acted in AMSND, is a comedic farce of Romeo and Juliet. Bella may have to "play" dead – and use her ability as a vampire to not breath to help her with her act. This might be done in order to escape or get to someplace/fool someone. While it will be a dramatic and terrifying part of the story (like the preface?) it will qualify as "comedic" in that it has a happy ending, unlike Romeo and Juliet.
The other piece of writing that inspired SM might be the "Cupid and Psyche" myth. Psyche is a weak mortal who has to go through numerous struggles before she attains immortality and eternal happiness with her Cupid. (There are lots of little things in the story itself that are reminiscent of Bella and Edward's story, but I won't go into it all here.) The theme of metamorphosis and illuminating emotional growth will be very important.
We will learn more about Carlisle's conversion. In revamping Twilight I noticed that the vampire who bit Carlisle spoke Latin, which sounds suspicious. Also, Edward believes that the reason the attacker didn't outrun Carlisle is because he was too hungry – but then why not take tasty Carlisle along with him and get more blood? Plus, Carlisle starved himself for weeks or months before discovering he could live off of animal blood and when he finally realized this he chased down deer - so I don't buy that theory. Carlisle's father was known for hunting down supposed witches, werewolves, and vampires – and enlisting his son to do so as well. We know Carlisle was less inclined to condemn people as such creatures unless he really believed that's what they were. I'm wondering if perhaps Carlisle was the one who condemned Jane and Alec. If the Volturi was forced to slaughter the twins' entire village (drawing attention to themselves) and change the twins before they were ready then Aro would have wanted revenge on the one who forced his hand. Maybe he got a henchman to purposely bait Carlisle into a hunt so that there would be witnesses to Carlisle's attack and change? The one thing is that on the Lexicon under Jane's bio they claim her hometown is Volterra – but there's no source cited, so I'm hoping this is just an assumption and she could be from London.
Bella's special vampire powers: I started wondering why Alice never saw Bella sneaking away from her and Jasper in the airport. It's such a major thing you'd think she would have had that vision. Also, Alice says she got her "perspective" all wrong and that's why she didn't realize that the bad vampires were already so close to them, but everyone including Edward says that no one should ever bet against Alice, implying that her visions are always spot on. And in NM she swears she wasn't "looking" for Bella but Bella's cliff diving forced itself onto Alice's inner sight. When they are all in Phoenix at the hotel Jasper tries to make Bella sleep and is even touching her shoulder to do so, but when she actually makes an attempt she is able to resist his power and storm out of the room. And then of course there's Edward's special power which has never worked on Bella's self-protected mind.
SO…we have three vampires with special powers all with varying degrees of failure at imposing their gift on a human. We've already been given a reason why Edward, Aro, and Jane's powers won't work on Bella – but Alice and Jasper's failures are intriguing. My theory is that Alice's powers didn't work the day of the baseball game because Bella was enjoying her stress free day with Edward so much that she was subconsciously blocking Alice's power from seeing anything that would ruin the day. If Alice had seen James' intent, Bella would never have had that entire day with Edward. And Alice doesn't see Bella's plan to escape at the airport because Bella unknowingly prevents Alice from doing so so that Bella can save her mom and protect everyone she loves by dying for them. In NM, Bella needs Edward and it's her final attempt to force him to return to her. It's her strongest "vision" of Edward and she has already had a lot of practice with her visions so she is finally able to "call" Alice with the force of a near death cry for help.
Once Bella becomes a vampire I think this will all add up to an ability to block/turn off any vampire's special abilities. And some of the teaser quotes could be reread with that being the case. Edward doesn't know what Alice will choose with rock, paper, scissors because Bella has accidentally blocked his power. Edward's "so guilty" quote could be Bella working out how to control this power. And the quote from Jasper – if Bella has blocked his ability he wouldn't be able to understand the emotional motivations behind whatever actions are occurring here. And lastly, when Bella writes her letter to Edward in Twilight she says that she has "sealed away" her heart. Maybe that's part of what she can block off too? If she can seal away special powers and hearts that would also tie in to the AMSND motif and the idea of B&E having complimentary powers, which I think they will have.
If you look at Twilight, everything major that happens in NM and Eclipse is foreshadowed in the first book – Jacob crushing on Bella, the Quileute kicking up a fuss (instigated by Billy), werewolf mythology, the treaty, Edward thinking he should leave Bella for her own safety, Victoria, Bella planning to get into danger to keep Edward, Bella's nerves at the thought of calling Edward her "boyfriend", etc. So I think after reading BD we'll see that there were major clues in Twilight as to what would happen in BD.

It would even out the gap between us just a little bit - because he'd still be the most loving and unselfish and brilliant and decent person I've ever met. Of course I love him. How hard is that to understand?" ~Eclipse (4)

I really enjoyed reading your predictions, Cordelia. I wish I had the patience to make a list of my own, but right now I'm too excited to do almost anything!
I also thought today's quote was joking or scarcastic. It reminds me of something in one of the other books, though I can't remember exactly which. Anyway, whatever I'm trying to think of was really sarcastic.

Wow, Cordelia, I'm impressed by how much thought you have given to your predictions. Much, or most of what you say sounds very plausible. Fortunately, we don't have long to wait to find out what really happens.
I've been re-reading some of SM's articles and interviews, and I had forgotten how much she was influenced by the Book of Mormon in her life, and how that is the motivation behind her not wanting Bella and Edward to become intimate before their wedding. And with the passages about Edward's belief that his soul is damned, and how she has made Bella a very responsible person who will make sacrifices for those she loves, I've always been afraid that Bella won't be turned. I truly hope that is not the case, but I could see it happening, especially given what that might do to Charlie and Renee, unless your prediction is correct. I like your thoughts that Charlie finds out and is okay with it. That would really be cool. No more pretense!
