As filming has now begun for the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, images taken by fans and paparazzi and such will start to be available.
We have some early images from filming in Lacock, as noted on Leaky Main. No--it is NOT Hagrid's Hut!
Additional filming is slated to be taking place shortly in Gloucester Cathedral, and as soon as we have more images we will post them up! This post has been edited by Hagiographer13: Nov 12 2007, 06:48 PM -------------------- |

This could be the night time scenes of Spinners End - narrow old streets

Spinners End is definitely one possibility, mad-eye-melly! However, as mentioned on Leaky Main, TLC reader Andrew noticed that the street in that picture is the same street that was used for the filming of the flashback to the Potters' house in Godric's Hollow for the Sorcerer's/Philosophers' Stone movie. I'm not sure where that would fit into this movie. The winding, cobbled, narrow streets do definitely lend themselves to a Spinners End-esque scene, though!

That white building sticking out looks interesting. Reminds me of The 3 Broomsticks. Perhaps this is Hogsmeade prior to apparition to The Cave.

You know as excited as I want to be over ANY pics of the HBP movie, I can't. Its nice to see what locations we'll get glimpses at in the film, but it doesn't compare to actually seeing the actors there on set, or even better, on the film stills WB and others manage to wow us with...I know we still have a long way to go before that happens, but I'm so tired of not seeing anything new! I should be 'relaxing' from HP due to the madness of this past summer, and I have, which is why I feel the need to get back on the HP 'scene' and that usually, for the most part, involves me going crazy over new images or casting news.

I'm thinking the traditional shots of Hagrids Hut will probably show it on Fire.

There are now many more images up from the HBP filming in Lacock, England, as mentioned on Leaky Main. It seems most likely that they are filming exteriors of Budleigh Babberton, and Horace Slughorn's temporary refuge there --
Most fascinating to me is mention of prop boxes and set pieces marked CEMETARY, such as this one -- I am thinking this is mostly atmospheric. ETA: Additional information from the filming confirms that it is indeed Sluggy's "home" and that the "graveyard" items were for a War Memorial that is being erected on the set--which is totally canon! From all these reports of filming in Wiltshire, it looks to me as if WB is consolidating all the filming from the village scenes in HBP, like Budleigh Babberton, Little Hangleton (Gaunt house), and Spinner's End. They might be using different parts of Lacock for each bit, so as not to overlap. I guess it saves both money and time.
Its great that the residents of Lacock are alllowing WB to use their village for HP. Its a very beautiful village. -------------------- |

More pictures from the HBP filming in Lacock have been added to the Galleries! As reported on Leaky Main Michael Gambon and Dan Radcliffe were there filming the exterior scenes for Buddleigh Babberton and Harry and Dumbledore's meeting with Horace Slughorn.
I really like the detail that goes into these films, even if it's little bits that go by so fast we don't even notice. Such a bit of obsessive detail is this pub sign for the "Babberton Arms" -- You can find all the images from the Lacock filming, including pictures of Gambon signing autographs, here in the massive TLC Galleries. -------------------- |

So excited by these images. I agree that the narrow streets do look like something like what I thought Spinners End to be. I have a question.. Why are they redoing Hagrid's Hut for each film?

I pictured a one story too. If Slughorn is smart like he should be, why is WB sticking him in the most obvious house...?

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! I've been devouring all these pics! It just makes me so happy to see that they put a war memorial in the square! How cool is that!!!???
Ahhhh Hagrid's Hut, how nice it is to see you again. That house is like Fawkes, being repeatedly reduced to nothing and then reappearing.........and in this one it gets to be on fire LoL that's funny John-Robert, I never pictured the house as too small. If there's one thing Slughorn likes, it's comfort. Didn't surprise me at all to see him settle in as fancy a house as he could. -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" As mentioned on TLC Main there will be a couple sneak-peeks for HBP on the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD, due out in the UK today. A screen-grab of that menu is here in the Galleries --
With a little closer look via Photoshop, the embedded HBP images are -- The first appears to be perhaps in Slughorn's appropriated home in Budleigh Babberton (since we know they have already filmed some of that footage) whereas the second, to me, would most likely be Mrs. Cole's office (with the typewriter in the background), at the Orphanage. SQ--UEE!!!!!!!!!! As tiny as they are, with no actual footage to see yet, these pics are very exciting!
I agree with Hagiographer13, the second one looks like the orphanage to me. The first one I thought may have been DD's office but I think she is correct it is more likely Slughorn's "home". Harry looks to have on a jacket like the one he wore for filming that scene. Sweet!!! It's just so exciting to see images emerge, still can't believe we have a year to wait! -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" I had a chance to take a look at these extras on YouTube before they were removed, and the second bit is definitely in the orphanage. They interview the production designer, Stuart Craig about this set--and he says the main gate to the orphanage is his homage to David Lean's film of Dickens' Oliver Twist. The first could be in Dumbledore's office OR Sluggy's--it goes by way too quickly to be absolutely sure.
There are also snippets of what appears to be the cave scene and Harry talking with Arthur Weasley in his workshed. Also, unless it gets cut, it looks like we will have Quidditch back in HBP, as the bulk of the first short clip is interviewing the costume designer, Jany Temime, while she rhapsodizes about the "new" Quidditch robes. Again--I am very hopeful and excited for the sixth film! OotP was amazing--and this looks even better! -------------------- |

I've missed it, and it should be really great this year with Harry as captain and Ron as Keeper, and Ginny on the team, and McLaggen being an idiot and cracking Harry's skull while Ron's in the hospital and....YES!!...Luna as commentator! Hey, those are hella small pics, but its SOMETHING!
I got excited about the movie like I haven't been before after seeing the sneak peeks on youtube! I SQUEED when I saw the split-second image of DD at the cave set..it was such a small thing but it got me pumped up for the movie. I can't wait until you awesome gallery galls get the screen caps of those sneak peeks...too bad we have to wait until it comes out here in the US. -------------------- |

Hm I dunno hagiographer, in the sneak peek (downloaded it on my computer) it actually shows that 2nd picture is in Arthur Weasley's shed where he keeps all his electronics! There are stacks of computers, a motorcycle, and tons of other stuff.
The first shot is definitley Dumbledore's office. There's also a bit where they're looking through the pensieve in the Gryffindor dorms, wierd! LOVE the uniforms! Bit better than PoA but still not as good as CS and PS. |

I don't like the Quidditch uniforms...it is supposed to be a rough game for goodness sake!
Plus, and I hope no offense is taken by the North American fellows, those pads make everything look more American and less British. I really really hope they don't make HBP into a sappy teen movie (which, could happen judging by Emma's interview). -------------------- Oh, well, thank you very much, very nice of you. You are right, Fawcett--I checked my downloaded version of the Sneak, where I could pause it properly, and that typewriter is in Arthur's workshed. Really wonder what they are discussing there . . .
Also--I kind of like the Quidditch armour--maybe because I have been playing the HP video games and they include that stuff. Also, Ms. Temime's rationale for the armour is sound--now that the players are older, they are more likely to be playing rougher. Also, fyi, US footballers used to wear their padding OVER their jerseys. My 2 knuts of useless info for the day. Yes that clip is in Arthur's shed! What fun we get to see his plug connection!
I actually like the new Quidditch uniform. LOL Hagiographer13 you are right they do have things like that in the games! Good catch. I liked what the costumer said about the boys being older and taking more risks. I am all for contiuity, but at the same time I understand the need to breathe new life into things too. Quidditch is back after being gone for 2 films! I liked what the costumer said about the boys being older and taking more risks. Except strictly speaking the teams aren't getting older, they always had the best players in the house on them, regardless of age. Though of course it does mean we get Quidditch or at least Quidditch training in this movie which I am sure many fans will like.In the lead up to these clips, I think we have shots of Arthur's shed - though it is an interesting question as to what they are talking about, unless they have relocated Harry reporting back on Draco's detour there. We have Dumbledore's office, shots from the cave, and I think a brief shot of the Room of Requirements in "junk room" mode. -------------------- ![]() W.L.Y.J. We love you Jo |

No the teams aren't getting older, roonwit, which is what I meant with the very next sentence after what you quoted. But since the movies are even more Harry-centric than the books are, it makes sense that they would go ahead and work within his Quidditch career. I just meant that I appreciated the costumer having some sort of rationale for the re-design. It shows she has put some thought into it and if she is willing to put out the effort I am open-minded enough to go with it. -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" In the Sneak Peak that was released on the OotP DVD, they included scenes that made me squee-ful. ![]() OMG! SQUEEE @ at the last one! We got it, you guys! Well, it looks like we do, hopefully we'll get to see that train scene in the movie. I hope they have Tonks rescue Harry. -------------------- |

Wheee, it looks like the movie will be great. I just hope the comedic side isn't too powerful...It is one of the darkest of the series.
Still, yay for Quidditch and the inclusion of small scenes and efforts! ^^ -------------------- [Sig image removed.]

I totally squeed when I saw the clips of Harry and Draco on the train!
I love seeing the clips with DD's hand and the Pensieve. So exciting! I too think this is looking really good, and I can't wait to see it!!! -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" Dumbledore-DH

Well seeing that Tonks was only in the movie for about three minutes total in OotP and how many avatars did she have?! .... I wonder when we're going to see our next HBP Sneak Peak Stuff... Hey now! Tonks NEEDS more screen-time. Yes, of course you'll be bombarded with icons, cuz that's just how I roll! lol! But seriously, we do need to see her more, I need more footage for vids. And I really hope we don't get a Sneak Peaks like we did with OotP, it was too much, IMO. Hopefully they'll keep us in the dark more this time around, we'll be more excited when the movie finally comes to the theaters .... BUT seeing as how we already have OFFICIAL pics, it is likely that it will not be like OotP, but we'll get stuff sooner. IDK! -------------------- |

One image that just kind of jumped-out at me from the sneak-peek was this one --
I am fairly sure that Scrimgeour and the ministry (and Percy, sadly) have been axed from HBP, so do you suppose that David Yates is going to go for another "newspaper montage" sort of thing? -------------------- |

That's a really great comment Hagiographer. I thought the newspapers were effective but they did get a little extreme at the end... maybe one notch from over the top... but that's all in the matter of opinion.
The Daily Prophet that you showed looked as if it was from the Prime Ministers Office, but WB has already said it has been cut, so I guess it would have came from the Gryffindor Common Room, The Burrow, Privet Drive, some cool place. Or, it could have just been sitting in the props department. It also made me look at it because if it's a prop they are using in the movie (which it looks like), nothing is moving because there is no blue screen inside of it pasted where the moving images would be animated in. If it is a still from the movie, and it's already been animated, Good Job WB, you've gotten far! -------------------- “If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

I didn't know they had said that they would cut out the Prime Minister scene! I loved that part. *sobs* Anyway, it could be a still, but I think that the visual effects company won't be working on HBP until May. Still, it doesn't mean that the Daily Prophet won't be in the movie. Even if it's a prop, it still has some HBP-related headlines. *shrugs* So far, the movie's looking great; I just hope they don't alter too much...=/ -------------------- [Sig image removed.]

The kissss! Wow, can't wait for that! *runs off to the vidgals to check out all the sneak peaks!* LOL *carefully sidesteps comment on DD's I have pondered the kiss alot, and part of me wonders if this is the scene where Harry and Ginny break up. In the sneak peek they are really close and then the next shot is her walking away from him, and Harry doesn't look too happy. Of course they wouldn't show the kiss on a sneak peek, but what if there isn't one in this scene? What if it's just an almost-kiss before Ginny leaves and Harry moves on to Horcrux hunting? Just a thought..... Well that could be a heartbreaking scene! -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" When I first saw this scene I didn't think it was a kiss, I think it might have just been a close encounter, maybe even a dream of Harry's (it'd be funny if Ron popped out of nowhere in one of Harry's dreams, are you listening WB?). As for thinking that it was the, well I'll dubb it the "Good Bye kiss", I just don't get that feeling. It would be nice if they kept the ending of the movie in tune with the ending of HBP (the funeral and Hermione & Ron telling Harry that they'd follow him no matter what happens -------------------- "The money was the very last thing I expected because I was just very used to being quite broke. I really hope they don't go for the newspaper effect again. I'm bummed out by them leaving Maggie Smith's wheel chair scene out, even out of the DVD extra bits (there was a sneak peek image back when OoTP was like this) D: Unless the sneak peek was actually Maggie Smith in a wheel chair in costume reading a Harry Potter newspaper prop... xD

It's funny that you say the comment about Dame Smith because I was just looking at that image. Well with David Yates, I'm sure he'll go for the newspaper effects again, I liked them but after a while they were a little over the top. My only question... why are they using a green screen on the pensive when in GoF they didn't? It's around the base... I don't know. -------------------- “If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

The kissss! Wow, can't wait for that! What's the Trophy Room scene? (think of how Sirius's head/face in the fire differs from GoF to OotP) Probably just wanted to change the look of the pensieve a little. -------------------- "J.K. As was mentioned on TLC Main there is a fake film poster for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince being circulated on the net (as there was about this far out for OotP.) It's pretty interesting, I think --
I am really looking forward to the cave scene in the film . . . but I doubt it will make an appearance on the poster. -------------------- |

I don't know, I think it's possible the cave could make a poster, but you are probably right the chances are slim. Although the MoM was the culmination of OotP and it was all over the posters..... BTW I totally agree, can't wait to see the cave scene! -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" Dumbledore-DH

I honestly think that if people thought it was real they haven't thought it through. Because they wouldn't release promotional Posters this early when we've had only about four promotional pictures and not even any form of a teaser trailer. I am just very impressed with the person who did it, I think we should make a challenge of the most realistic Promo Poster! Well the idea seemed good in my head. xxx

Well, it's not unreasonable to expect the teaser poster any day now, as this one for OotP appeared a full 9 months before the film opened. I guess the main thing that struck me at how WRONG this poster is that the cave scene happens at night (although that could change in the film) and it appears as if they are underwater. Plus the tagline is completely wrong. Not having it say "I am not worried, Harry, I am with you" would cause more fan-furor than that generated for the (happily mis-interpreted) "I must not break rules" hand etching.

The cave looks underground with sunlight filtering in to me, but I can see how you saw it that way. You do have an excellent point though, there should not be any sunlight. As mentioned on TLC Main, there is set construction going on at Gloucester Cathedral in anticipation of location filming there for HBP in early February, compete with local school children as extras (lucky kids!
There has been a lot of speculation on just what scenes this venue and crowd-casting might entail. If you look at some of the other shots from this location in the Galleries you'll see that there is a small garden that may be included in the filming. This makes me wonder if they might be filming Dumbledore's funeral here, as well as stock exterior shots. Glouceter Cathedral has been used previously in the Potter films, most notably in Chamber of Secrets. -------------------- |

I could be the kid that flunked out a million times, that would explain my age! I am quite excited for the return to Gloucester, it creates some nice continuity in the films. I had to laugh the other day. My rather questionable hometown newspaper plastered a picture of the fake poster on the front of Life & Arts section. I'm glad to know that they check their facts and verify that they have official images from WB.

New images from HBP filming at Gloucester Cathedral!
As mentioned on TLC Main the cast and crew are busy filming at Gloucester, and several new images of this are now in the amazing TLC Gallery. Rupert Grint is there, in his Ron Weasley finest -- And there are pictures of Alan Rickman both in, and out of costume as Severus Snape -- There are also many images of the cathedral "dressed up" as Hogwarts, and of the lucky local school children who will be extras in the film. -------------------- |

All Alan is doing is holding what looks like his costume. There is no one in that jacket as you can see the sleeve is empty.

I am so excited we are getting so many images! I feel like this is the most images we have ever gotten from a shooting in a public setting. Not only are we getting a ton of images, but there are so many of the *stars* in the movie! Alan Rickman, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, oh my!

These are soooo cool!!! I cannot wait for the movie trailer. I think I will actually scream when I finally see it...it's funny that we haven't seen any of Emma Watson/Hermione. The trenchcoat Dan is wearing looks a bit odd on him.

They might be using stunt doubles for "the flight of the prince." So, this means they may be filming the penultimate battle scene at Gloucester, and that would make sense to be using the kid/extras to flesh out the crowd scenes. I am reasonably sure they are filming SEVERAL different scenes in this location, which may include the battle and escape from Hogwarts, DD's funeral (maybe why the kids are all in their school robes) and various random group and crowd shots. This is so exciting! This post has been edited by Hagiographer13: Feb 8 2008, 11:39 PM -------------------- |

good point.. in the book all thats going on is alot of running and the usual wand battles, but i should have known from previous example that the movies would try to spruce it up a bit.. they probably have both draco and snape doing some serious danger-dodging and wicked action.. im sure the lightning-struck tower and the flight of the prince will be VERY prolonged and emphasised. the kids never needed doubles before but the idea that they will NOW is pretty exciting!!

Are there any images of Helen McCrory as Narcissa Malfoy, yet? I'm dying to see how she turns out. Sadly, we have seen no other official images from HBP than the first one of Harry with his Marauders Map and Potions Book. Even in the unofficial images we have gotten, only the regular cast has been sighted . . none of the new characters. But as we are looking at 9 months 'til the film release, and judging from when we saw them for OotP, I reckon we are due for some images from WB soon. *crosses fingers* -------------------- |

There aren´t any official photos of Helen McCrory as Narcissa, so I´ve made a photo-manipulation. But I´m sure she won´t look like that in the film.

As mentioned on TLC Main the HBP crew was just filming at the Millenium Bridge in London --
There is some speculation as to whether the "destruction" of the bridge will be used as a substitute for the Brockdale Bridge mentioned in ch. 1 of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and if it may be included as part of a larger montage (ala OotP) showing how Voldemort's rising power is having an effect on both wizard and muggle Britain. -------------------- |

Having just read the short interview with Dave Legeno who plays Fenrir Greyback I imagine we will get some interesting shots of him trying to do in Dan Radcliffe as Harry. I just re-read that part of HBP as they run down from the Astronomy Tower and Greyback attacks him--and it is such a vivid image Jo describes! *shudder*
I also imagine that Legeno will be taking part in the new scene they added: rumoured to be a fight at the Burrow! This post has been edited by Hagiographer13: Mar 16 2008, 12:15 PM -------------------- |

Knowing Dan I'm sure he would have studied up on Muggle fighting techniques beforehand. It sounds like the scene is gonna be a mix of wizard duelling and Muggle duelling. I also imagine that Legeno will be taking part in the new scene they added: rumoured to be a fight at the Burrow! Not sure if I'll be able to stand it though if Fenrir is topless throughout the film. -------------------- |

There is a great new video interview with Dan, Rupert and Tom Felton that they did with E! TV whilst filming in Gloucester Cathedral recently.

Discussing that E! video interview with my Gallery twin, Birthday Twins we noticed that they seemed to be filming multiple scenes at Gloucester Cathedral, as there were noticeable costume changes.
The most striking was comparing Dan Radcliffe in his usual school robes with him being made-up wearing what APPEARS to be the dress robes, from GoF -- This probably means they were filming DD's funeral there amongst the other scenes (since we surely won't see Draco there!) Wow! -------------------- |

As reported on Leaky Main, a new ad for Half Blood Prince has appeared. The April edition of Nick magazine has a poster style advert featuring Dan in that shot of him in a doorway with his poition book.
Also a new picture has emerged on the article showing the trio in the common room with Harry showing Hermione and Ron a book. All these photos can be found in the Galleries. (Sure where else would you go?) -------------------- avatar done for me by jeffhpfan

Woohoo for new [unofficial] pictures!
The poster looks exactly as I knew the first unofficial one would be...XD The trio one reminds me of all the first pictures of each movie. It's always something like this. It strongly reminds me of the GoF picture of them sitting in front of the fire. *coughI'malreadysotiredoftheHermionehaircomplaintscough* *achoogetoveritachoo* Ugh I knoow. Ugh I knoow. WHY is she blonde. -_- Um, actually I was referring to the fact that I'm tired of people complaining that she's too blond. Anyway, I noticed that if Harry turned his head about 90 degrees, he would be face-to-face with Ron's crotch. Awkward?? Harry appears to be showing Ron and Hermione the Potions book and notice the headlines on the Daily Prophet! Canon, baby! -------------------- |

I don't think Hermione's hair looks too blonde, I think it's mostly due to the lighting. Bog roaring fires in the common room, and lights needed to get the filming right. I dunno, I think it's just that.
Otherwise, I am OMG so excited! These pictures have made me so giddy! I can't wait for more, and I SO can't wait for the film release. -------------------- "Why do you think they're after us, because we're so awesome?
