Where did Voldemort go wrong?
When Voldy placed his trust in snape, he was sure that snape was the one to belive. But, while at the ministry, voldy never put 2 and 2 together. how could the order have known that harry and the DA needed their help? Snape. In the end, snape was trying to help Dumbeldor, and praying that voldy could not do the math. Mistake no. 2 = voldemort got to caught up in the moment. In his mad parade to get rid of harry, he forgot how he needed to GET OUT. He, instead of leaving Any thing else? -------------------- Whatever happened to Ravenclaw?

At first glance, there is no reason for Voldemort to show up at all. When you look at the reaction of Harry's scar, he makes the impression of being something like drawn there by Harry's claim (to Bellatrix) that the prophecy is lost. This could be a consequence of the residing of a fragment of his soul inside Harry's head although we only learn about it in DH. Up to the point where the possession of Harry goes wrong, Voldemort seems to feel attracted intellectually - there's something he has failed to learn and he wants to understand.

About number two.....Think about it, it wasn't a mistake at all, he knew what he was doing.
Think about it: Your greatest enemy is at your mercy in front of you, do you kill him, taking the risk of being seen, but kill your only fear, thus not needing to worry, because you will be at full power? Or do you hide, fearing that you, the strongest wizard in the world will be seen. Think about it -------------------- ![]() |

Well maybe he knew that, but I think that he could have leave and than kill Dumbledore another time. He knew that the prophecy was lost so why did he show up ? And other Voldy's mistake is that when Harry told him about the elder wand that it's his, he still try to kill him and that is why he killed himself.

Voldemort showed up because he knew Harry was wide open for the picking; what he did not count on was Dumbledores arrival. Voldemort did not understand that Harry was the true master of the Deathstick, and when told, simply threw the idea aside. -------------------- ![]() |

Just a friendly mod reminder that we are on OOTP right now and the Elder Wand is strictly DH. Rowena. LL. Mod. -------------------- ![]() |

Ok, next try: Voldemort showed up because he felt that Harry had used an Unforgiveable Curse for the first time. As we know he knows the first part of the prophecy, we can assume that he gets the feeling that Harry has taken an important step towards what could become Voldemort's end - as he interprets it.
In Voldemort's view, Harry is just one step short of using an AK and that's where things might become dangerous for him even taking into account that he has several Horcruxes hidden (Voldemort already knows that Harry had taken one Horcrux out of the equation!). In short: he wanted to have a look at his Nemesis. |

lizzardbreath voldy was far too casual with the diary, seeing as he had lots of other horcruxes, which was positively stupid. tom riddle was known for using his charm with words and looks to lure people into doing things, so the fact that lizzardbreath pointed out voldy inadvertantly making harry stab the diary is a good point. also, voldy thinks he's the greatest wizard ever. of course he's going to be arrogant! (didnt work out too well for him, now did it?) -------------------- "But why's she got to go to the library?" "Because that's what Hermione does," said Ron. "When in doubt, go to the library." As far as i remember Voldemort didn't know Dumbledore was in the ministry when he arrived.
He saw Harry wide open after he had just tried the cruciatus curse on Bellatrix. I'm sure when he appears Bellatrix tries to warn Voldemort but he doesn't listen. 'Master, you should know -' 'Be quiet Bella,' said Voldemort dangerously. 'I shall deal with you in a moment. Do you think I have entered the Ministry of Magic to hear your snivelling apologies?' 'But master - he is here- he is below-' Voldemort paid no attention. 'I have nothing more to say to you, Potter,' he said quietly. 'You have irked me too often, for too long. AVADA KEDAVRA!' Harry had not even opened his mouth to resist; his mind was blank, his wand pointing uselessly at the floor. But the headless golden statue of the wizard in the fountain had sprung alive, leaping from its plinth to land with a crash on the floor between Harry and Voldemort. The spell merely glanced off the chest as the statue flung out it's arms to protect Harry. 'What -?' cried Voldemort, staring around. And then he breathed, 'Dumbledore!' Voldemort had no idea that Dumbledore was there. -------------------- Excuse me; are you the imprint of a departed soul?
