We now have six nominations for our poll for September's book. Click on the links to see the details of the original nominations and then click the checkbox next to your choice in the poll above to vote.

1. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

2. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

3. Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See

4. North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell

5. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

6. The Alchemyst by Michael Scott

If the winner is part of a series, then we'd like to try discussing the series all at once, rather than split it up as we've done in the past. We can then find out which way members would prefer to discuss books.

So, start voting and let us know what you would like to read in September.

I haven't read all of these but I have read The Book Thief and Artemis Fowl which are both good reads but I've voted for The Alchemyst which I read recently and now I want to read the rest of the series, so they'd be good to discuss.

This has been a difficult choice & I've only just voted. Although I nominated Artemis Fowl & I totally love this book series, I had to vote for The Book Thief. It's a stunning book, it really moved me & affected me in such a strong way, like no book has touched me that much for a long whiles.

I just finished North and South, which I love, but my vote went to The Alchemyst, I'd like to read something specifically for the Book Nook that I haven't read before. I agree with Moose, The Book Thief is a stunning book, but it was so emotionally draining for me that I don't think I can read it again.

Thanks to all who nominated books; there are many great choices here! I have only read one of them before.

I gave my vote to Artemis Fowl. I have never read it and it is a popular book, which many members may have read already. Like many of the choices here, it is aimed at a younger audience, and I think it would be fun to include a wide variety of ages into the discussion. I almost voted for the Alchemyst (which I have read and enjoyed, and I wouldn't mind reading the sequels), but I'd like to read something new. Plus, Moose_ Starr makes Artemis Fowl sound very interesting!

I'd also like to read North and South sometime, but I think I might need a break from period pieces soon.

I voted for The Book Thief. I read it last summer and really ejoyed it. I need to read it again, and this would be a great motivator.

I've read Artemis Fowl and The Alchemyst, but I simply LOVED the Alchemyst way more, so I voted for it... I wouldn't say no to the Book Thief, either, as a friend of mine suggested it. But right now, the library probably hates me (I keep books for waaay too long) so I can't really borrow any new books. sad.gif And, the Alchemyst is... I think a lot of people would like it! ;)

I was about to vote for The Book Thief as I haven't read it and it's so highly recommended but then I saw Artemis Fowl! I've always adored this book and haven't read it in years, so that is definitely my highest rated choice smile.gif

I voted for Artemis, however I was just looking at The Alchemist the other day in the library. So either choice would be good.
