Tonight, we will skim the literary cream of the mythological world as it applies to Harry Potter. The environs of the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a mini-United Nations of myth and legend. Centaurs, hippogriffs, elves,giants, unicorns, merfolk--even a kraken-- call this home. [19:17] <Expelliarmas> How has the presence of these creatures enriched the lives of the students of Hogwarts? Chiron the Wise was honored with his own constellation, Sagittarius. In contrast, the centaurs at Hogwarts are isolationists, reading the stars for themselves. Why do you think they changed? People like Umbridge had the attitude that they were inferior and treated them as such. There were numerous wars as a result. We all know the way some races are treated when they are feared. Humans want to control them to reduce the fear. However, they could be slain by one holding a mirror, thus turning the deadly gaze back upon the basilisk. Hermione had a mirror, yet was Petrified. Why did she not turn the mirror the other way?
