Mcgonagall is my fav teacher at Hogwarts. There're many reasons but mostly because she knows how to handle a class and knows her subject well. She doesn't need to silent a class as her presence automatically does.

she's really dependable and fair, and as well as being strict she really cares about her students- look at the end of Book 7, and she supports Harry and Hermione especially throughout the series. Plus she has some of the best lines of the books!
