I have one of the older 30GB Zunes and love it. Nothing against Ipods, but I really like the Zune itself a lot better. I've dropped it several times so the fact that it is chunkier is a plus and the screen is also bigger than on an Ipod and they are (or a least were when I got mine) a lot cheaper. However the Zune software drives me crazy. Because it is microsoft, it is only compatable on Windows computers and (like several other microsoft programs) it has given me a little bit of trouble here and there, especially when the came out with the new Zunes and upgraded (to me it was more of a downgrade) the software. Also, Itunes has a lot more available than marketplace because it has been around longer and is more popular.
All in all, love the device, not to fond of the software. -------------------- ![]() |

I personally like the IPOD better... My mother had the Zune a couple years back and I didn't admire it too much..

Yeah the thing with iPods is that it's compatible with iTunes which is seriously such an awesome piece of software. It's just so simple and easy to use and it looks pretty elegant. Windows Media Player is just a mess. I really do not like the layout of it.
Regarding the actual hardware...well I still prefer the iPods. |

My first player ever was an ipod Nano Gen 1? (pink) I had two actually, one burned out on me and another was stolen. I almost went for the bigger Ipod, then I spotted a pink Zune 30g. It was the color that sold me, I won't lie. But despite negative reports I fell in love with my player. So I am going to buy the Zune 80 next week when I get paid. i've also had my eye on a few creative brand players, but so far I'm loyally converted to my Zune. Still it hasn't escaped my attention that most people today own ipods. So I was wondering, how many people do have ipods (what kind) and how many have gone for alternative players like Zune, Sansa, etc. Maybe there are people who still use CD players and tape decks too. I actually saw a guy with a walkman that played audio tapes yesterday and it shocked me. Every once in awhile I still catch a CD player or two as well. -------------------- RhondaWeasley

Well, I have one of the earlier white I-pod shuffles. I would never have bought an i-pod, but I got it free when I did the Year Book at school. It works pretty well, although it annoys me not having a screen, and the fact that I can't fit all the music I want on it on to it. But I live with it. Also, the battery button seems to be a bit dodgey - doesn't always show how the battery's doing
I still have both my CD and tape walkmans though. The CD one I will sometimes use at night to listen to audio books, and the tape one I'll use for music we only have on tape (mainly my parents' old music collection) and I'll use the radio on it which neither of the others have. What ideally I'd like is an MP3 player with a screen, radio and a larger memory capacity. It would make deciding what to take on holiday a bit easier... -------------------- "Oh no, not again" -Bowl of Petunias The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy |

There's a few hacks for putting games on the Zune. I like the Zune because it's simply a player. All the extra apps on the ipod annoy me, especially since I have most of them on my phone... any apps I care to use anyway. the only thing the Zune is missing is a clock.
Sorry, itunes gets on my last nerve. Zune DOES NOT use Windows Media Player by the way, it has it's own software which is much improved in the latest update. The intial launch of 2.0 made me want to scream, but they've fixed most of my major issues with it. It's still too cutesy more than functional. But (except for the lack of an audiobook catergory) as good as itunes as far as supporting the player it's designed for. I got my gen2 80 GB zune and I love the new "Zune Pad". The 30gb and 80gb Zune screen still kills everything but the ipod touch when it comes to viewing video and the ipod touch can't touch it in storage space, so I still say the Zune kicks ipods just for giving me an awesome screen plus killer space. the hardware has always been miles ahead of it's biggest pitfall (the software). I feel ipods are so overated. Especially the touch, which is a downgraded iphone. This post has been edited by RhondaWeasley: Aug 20 2008, 09:56 PM -------------------- RhondaWeasley
