Its been a long journey and we're getting near the end, so how has the ride been for you? We already have threads about what you liked or didn't like about the films but they're perhaps too general for some which was leading another thread off topic. So we're opening this thread to discuss whether or not you think the films did justice to the books and we'll move one or two posts over from that thread.

Were you thrilled with the overall results or disappointed?

Which parts did the films portray well?

Did some of the books get a better deal than others?

Martok, i think what you pointed out were really plot holes in the books, not bad translation to the movies. except maby for the quidditch scene and chess scene (in the book ron takes the place of the knight and is NOT killed when he sacrifices himself, by the way, so he would NOT have dies if they had done it like that in the movie).

Nope, those plot holes I pointed out came only from bad transision from book to movie.
The relevance of Harry's wand has never been explained. Don't get me wrong, I do like the scene with Ollivander. Unfortunately, in context of the movies the scene has no meaning. It's a classic case of "the gun that hangs on the wall in act 1 that doesn't get fired in act 3".
McGonagall takes the house points from Harry & Co. for a completely different reason in the book.
The chess scene was a little over the top. For the movie, they had the chess figures destroy each other instead of just knocking out. Presumably because they wanted to raise the stakes a little higher in order to create suspension. The trio had no way of knowing that the White Queen would aim for the horse instead of Ron. I just can't believe that Harry and Hermione would let Ron do this.
Harry doesn't kill Quirell in the book. Touching Quirellmort hurts him as well, but he doesn't let go. They struggle until Harry passes out. Much more heroic. Dumbledore give more or less the same explaination for both the book and the movie. For the movie that doesn't make sense.
