I know we all love JK Rowling's world of Harry Potter but what are some of the things you would have done differently if you were the author of the Harry Potter series?

If it was up to me, I think Neville and Bellatrix should have dueled in OOTP. I also beleive that Neville should have been the one to kill Bellatrix. I just think it would have fitted perfectly because Bellatrix tortured his parents to the point of going crazy and Neville always hated her for that.

What would you guys have done differently?

Justin

". I also remember being mystified by the fetus lying on the floor, until that was explained, of course. . ."

Maybe I'm obtuse, but I just re-read that chapter and I STILL don't see the explanation for that fetus on the floor. The implication, of course, from Harry and Dumbledore's conversation at that point, is that this is the fate that awaits Voldemort if he dies. But (again, unless I'm missing something), it's never really spelled out.

Actually it is spelled out. (at least to me) It's not the fate that awaits lv IF he dies, that part of his soul DID get destroyed and went to the after life but he still had parts of his soul on earth to keep him alive.

Sorry to be contradictory, but his horcruxes prevented his soul from going to the afterlife when his body was killed. That is the purpose of a horcrux, after all. And according to the author, it is just as Harry and Dumbledore discuss as well as what Harry meant when he said that he had seen what Voldemort would become if he didn't come up with some remorse. The stunted baby-like creature is the form in which Voldemort will be forced to exist in the afterlife. Here is the quote from The Bloomsbury Webchat with J.K. Rowling, 30 July 2007:
QUOTE
Jon: Since Voldemort was afraid of death, did he choose to be a ghost if so where does he haunt or is this not possible due to his horcruxes?

J.K. Rowling: No, he is not a ghost. He is forced to exist in the stunted form we witnessed in King’s Cross.

What exactly was the mutilated baby-like creature Harry saw at King's Cross in chapter 35 of 'Hallows'?
I’ve been asked this a LOT. It is the last piece of soul Voldemort possesses. When Voldemort attacks Harry, they both fall temporarily unconscious, and both their souls - Harry's undamaged and healthy, Voldemort’s stunted and maimed - appear in the limbo where Harry meets Dumbledore.

Thank you!
For some reason I haven't been on Jo's website in forever, and I've been wondering about the baby-like creature for the longest time. And there it is. Genius. It makes total sense now! Ah, I'm so happy. Haha. :)

'Funny,' he said, 'you'd think I'd have stopped walking around...'
