Yes, I've been wroking hard on the same set of characters for years.
Sometimes others creep in and I have to chase them away because I need to work on this novel first before working on others. -------------------- This love was big enough for the both of us.
This love of yours was big enough to be frightened of. It's deep and dark, like the water was, The day I learned to swim. |

Yes, I have a couple of characters I really like.
-------------------- ![]() Galileo, Galileo, will you do the fandango? Thunderbolt! Lightning, and very very frightening. Donner, Blitzen, cabaret schnitzen. Grumpy, Dopey, Sleepy, Fart-face… Smack-head. And Kenneth. |

Heh; I make so many characters over the course of a year, I can hardly keep track. However, all of them have a highly developed storyline, and a great deal of thought is put into them. So...you could say that I'm attached to them.

Well my boyfriend and I have created a fictional creature/character 4 years ago, and we continue to expand its character, story etc everyday, we actually 'pretend' that it is living amongst us (although it is invisible), and we constanly talk about it, especially as a bed time story to each other every night... We created it so that whenever one of us had to go away for some time, (trips, holidays etc), it would go with him to keep him company and watch him out..
In fact it resembles a lot in appearance PuggmyPuffs (although it is white), and the first time I read about PuggmyPuffs in HBP 2 years ago I thought that JKRowling had read our minds!!!! We call it "zestaki" whose vaque english translation would be sth like "warmy", and he lives inside socks stored in cupboards in the night... Of course it has a 4th year background of additional storyline and backstory, so it not as simple as it seems... Like a certain trait or habit. -------------------- ![]() |

I get pretty attached to almost every character I make up. For English, we had to do a character sketch and I made up a boy named Seamus, who I was extremely fond of. I hope I can get that character sketch back, because I think I'm going to write a story with him in there and I know I can never quite get the same character traits for him if I tried. The main thing I liked about that character was what I put for where he could be found: peering around a corner or table, waiting to pull a prank on the next person that passes.

There are a few characters that I have become quite attached too.
Once the character is written down on paper and I have time to develop their personality it is easy for me empathize with him/her. If I spend enough time writing certain scenes or plot lines with a particular character his/her emotions are as real as mine eventually. That is the best feeling about writing. You have created someone that eventually (to me at least) becomes real, if only on paper. |

Definitely. The story I am most focused on is this story about Rwanda and the genocide. And the main character, Rachel...well, I connect with her a lot. And I feel close to her. I realised when I was starting the book that I was going to base her off of me, but it's kind of scary to go back and read and see how much I did base Rachel off of myself.
And, a few years ago I began (but never finished) this diary-type story. And the main character was named Ginny/Virginia. I wasn't honestly trying to base her off of me this time, but I really began to connect with her and all the things she was going through. I love going back and seeing how REAL my characters seem -------------------- "Time passes in moments, which, rushing by, define the path of a life just as surely as they lead towards its end. How rarely do we stop to examine that path, to see the reasons why all things happen?"
