The role of the daemon in Golden Compass/Northern Lights is a complex one. While we have a complex discussion on daemons elsewhere, it's fun to discuss what your daemon would be and why.
Please put in-depth discussion on daemons in the series here, but please let us know about you and your daemon. Well I'm no good at thinking of this kind of thing myself so I took a test on the official movie site (click on Daemons at the top, then click on Meet Your Daemon). It does take a while to load though, even on a fast connection.
So here are my results Dæmon's Name: Remis (No joke, it actually gave my daemon that name!) Form: Chimpanzee Traits: Solitary, spontaneous, modest, assertive and competitive I'm not really sure about the modest bit, but the rest seems pretty accurate! That's an excellent site MuggleQueen. I enjoyed doing that quiz and I was quite pleased to discover my daemon was a Snow Leopard which apparently makes me modest, dependable, passive, shy and assertive. Like you found, some of those are true, others not so much.

The test tells me that my Daemon is a Tiger, modest, solitary, a leader, assertive, and responsible. I agree with it except for 'assertive', I am only when I need to be, sometimes I am shy. His name is Lutheus, too. I don't always trust test like that, it seems like the HP sorting hat, only you can decide what your daemon would be, just like you are a better judge at what house you are in.
However, I can not kept out the mental image of a tiger as my daemon now, I think it's quite right. I suppose other animals that would fit me would be a wolf (loyalty) or some kind of dog (again, loyalty and loving). Edit: Forgot to say, when I made all my family members take that quiz, we all got a feline daemon!  I thought it was pretty funny, and my parents have the same exact daemon, a wildcat

Form: Probably a snake or something. This is silly, but I took this quiz and I like what my answer said. Traits: From that quiz: You are intelligent, and are willing to resort to intimidation to protect yourself or get what you want. Unfortunately, sometimes you might intimidate people accidentally - you are often misunderstood. You might be good at adapting yourself to situations and getting yourself out of tight fixes. You are a survivor. Other: This is one of the hardest things to do, patronuses are easier to choose.

It seems strange that sociable and shy are included but that is fairly accurate, when I first meet people I tend to be very quiet but, once I get to know them, they can't believe I ever felt shy in the first place

I took the test on the movie site: My Daemon is a male Ocelot. Traits are, Modest, sociable, inquisitive, flexible, and passive I think this is pretty accurate. I'm glad that my daemon is feline, as I love cats.

How fun! I love quizzes........
After I took the quiz, I was surprised (pleasantly!) to find a lion stalking towards me! Apparently my daemon is a male lion anmed Archaean. The traits associated with him are: modest, sociable, leader, assertive. Hmm! I do try to be modest, and enjoy people immensely. i took the movie quiz and my daemon was Sirion and was an Ospery (type of bird). It's a really funny coinicidence because i live on Osprey Court!!
I just took the quiz Heidy mentioned above and got an EAGLE or HAWK - your daemon may be some kind of bird of prey. Yours is a strong spirit, and a fierce sense of liberty. You cannot be confined. You may be shrewdly observant, and like to be aware of everything that goes on around you. You will fight fiercely for the things that are most important to you, and you are definitely a force to be reckoned with. Still, you are not vicious by nature and would prefer to be left in peace. You probably value your solitude very highly - not that you don't enjoy company, but sometimes you just need to be alone - otherwise you begin to feel caged in and confined. That was a really interesting quiz!
My daemon is Aradion, and he's a snow leopard ... which is pretty cool because I love cats and big cats, so that's very apt! Apparently I'm modest, solitary, responsible, assertive and competitive. Hmmm ... well, those are accurate most of the time. I've definitely got more assertive as I've got older, and I've always been competitive! eta: I just spotted the Quizilla test and agree with Heidy ... it's far more accurate than the official movie site version. I took the quizzilla one, and ended up with a dog daemon as well...I named him Harry. The decription was right on the money, although I am a little bothered that it's the servants that have dog daemons. I am a mom of four, though, so that sounds about right.

 This is what it said: Your daemon may be a mouse. You keep your self hidden away, not because you are ashamed of it, but because you are afraid the world may not understand it, and may hurt it. Isn't it strange how people can be so cruel to such a small and helpless creature? You want to keep that very inner part of your psyche private and close to you, perhaps in your shirt pocket, next to your heart. In my opinion, daemons can be compared to totem-animals.
I have taken some totem-animal tests and my totem is always a wolf! So I think my daemon would be a wolf named Lakota, because of my love of them and of Native North- and South-American culture and people. That would be cool!

With the official one, my deamon is Laefe, a Jackal... I love his name!! With the other test, he's a dog so the test are very similar for me... but it's a bit ironic, I'm so afraid of dogs, lol... but I would love to have a deamon, and never be alone!!

I went back and took the test that Heidy linked to, and I got a mouse. I think the description is fitting!

It is very hard to tell what a butterfly is feeling, and perhaps that is why you feel so comfortable with this form. I too went back and took the quizilla test and got a totally different daemon! (I was a lion daemon in trhe movie version! Very outgoing leader, assertive.)
Here's what quizilla said: RAVEN - Your daemon may be a member of the crow family. You are intelligent, observant, and gregarious. Just as a crow or raven picks shiny objects out of the dirt, you pick up tidbits of information or ideas and store them away. You have a good sense of humour, but sometimes lose patience with people who are antipathic to your nature. You are swift to alert others when you find the truth, and you have no tolerance for those who would hide it. Hmnm, while I do tend to store information (mostly ideas for writing....some things can make excellent novels!), I think this description makes me sound a tad like Severus in the truth department......

Not too sure if this is a good thing or not, though.... Then I did the one on quizzila and got the following: "EAGLE or HAWK - your daemon may be some kind of bird of prey. All right, as I don't ever believe what those quiz things say about me, this all is coming from my head, so, you might want not to take it all for granted
Dæmon's Name: Remigijus, or Remas for short - this probably needs some explanation: as I live in a non-English speaking country, I think, it'd make little sense for me to have a daemon with an English name. It looks similar to Remus and that's no coincidence The pronounciation is a little different though, it'd something like Rem-ig-ius.Form: Well, I actually thought that it would be coolest if he wouldn't settle, however, I think that you can't mature without your daemon settling, and I want to be mature So, I think, my daemon would be some kind of bird of prey. For example, a very cool bird I've just googled - Montagu's Harrier.Traits: My daemon would be graceful, intelligent, kinda like the voice of reason to me, brave, rather fierce (for me), I'd think. Other: I'd actually love to have a squirrel daemon, too - friendly, compassionate, curious, quick (though the bird daemon would probably have that in him, too) and cuddly I really can't make up my mind now.

Other: I've just about finished reading the books and was thinking about this today when I got to the last few chapters of The Amber Spyglass, and assumed that he'd be a dog. I guess it fits in with my Hufflepuff side!
