I was browsing through the threads in this forum, and I saw a couple that were devoted to parts of the book that people didn't expect would be in the OotP movie.  The Grawp thread being the most noticeable to me.

What I was curious about is what parts of the book would people like to see cut from the movie?

Please don't post and say, "I don't want to see anything cut!  I'll sit through a 6 hour movie!"  While I totally agree, there are plenty of other threads for that.  We know things will be cut, I know there is already a lot of information out there that tells us what is going to be in the movie.  I was just curious if there was any agreement on what could go.

Here is what I would like to see left out.

1.  Grawp, I agree with many other people that, that is the part of the book I least like to read.

2.  Anything to do with S.P.E.W.  I was glad it was not in GoF.

Anything else?

Blimin Hell I've been racking my brain and nothing is coming ... I suppose maybe Hagrids tale ( but I still feel Grawp is important)

I don't want them to leave anything out. grin.gif (hehe, sorry but I had to do that! )

SPEW, I didn't miss at all in GoF and won't miss it in OotP.

Grawp, I think he'll have a bigger role in the last book which is why they left him in.

Maybe they can cut Firenze and the other Centuars.....

Maybe Quidditch.....

Wouldn't care if Quidditch was cut, or Grawp, or SPEW. I also don't think Harry's trial is terribly vital, there are other ways to introduce Dolores Umbridge.

I also did NOT want to see Lockhart again.

We talked a little about this in the other thread, but I think the trial is important. It shows how far the ministry is willing to go to shut Harry up about Voldemort.

Hmm, true, true. They will really need to establish this as they didn't end GoF with Fudge openly not believing Harry. While it may be necessary though, I can still see them cutting it and replacing it with some other way of showing no one believes him. It just takes up too much time and I think they always want to get Harry to Hogwart's as soon as possible...but you never know.

I think it would be a real good visual shocker to see Harry sitting in the medievil contraption they used on Karkaroff in POA.  Well, maybe he would be sitting in it and it would be kind of open but still unsettling.

Anywho, if they get rid of the trial, they get rid of Arabella Fig and maybe Mundungus.  Even if they do keep the trial, I think they are dispensible for the movie.  Of course, they were great characters in the book.  (Serves those movies only fans right.)

Grawp, but he's staying in, so...hmm...I'd have to think.  Grawp.   laugh.gif   But it's ok, I don't care if he stays in as long as they keep Snape's worst memory!

Well, most of you have gone for more "serious" matters, but the first thing that popped in my brain when I read this thread title...
The brains!  Yes, I have no desire to see the brains. Icky!
I agree on the Grawp/Hagrid storyline. It is hard enough to read in the book. And I really don't want to see Hagrid wandering around with a big hunk of greenish meat on his face! Again...Icky!
I agree somewhat on the quidditch, but I hope they show the unjustice that Umbridge does to Harry and those she kicks off the team...and it has to have her confiscating the brooms. Because it will be truly disappointing to not have the Twins' exit scene!
Other than that, I think they could leave out divination completely...well, other than the prophecy of course!
