Alright, so I personally believe that the 1st part of book 7 could pass with a PG- PG-13 rating.

It's the second part I am concerned about. I really want them to be "true" to the books, but the more I think about it, the more "true" they are, the higher rating the movie should be. I was thinking of it even being rated "R". Here are my reasons why....

1. Snape gets half of his neck ripped of by a snake. Not only that, but Harry has to look him in the face as blood, and snapes memories are flowing from his head. Creepy...

2.Hermione is tortured, sure they COULD not show this on screen, but I think it is more emotional if they do, like, little cut scenes. It's also been debated that she was almost raped by Greyback.

3. Nagini comes out of a dead women's body.

4. Many deaths in this movie, George has his ear blown off. Crabbe is burned alive, Dobby is stabbed (Harry has to pull the knife out). Dead bodies all over the floor, when they stack them. Wormtail chokes himself to death.

There might be others, but these are the one's I thought of. I think if they really show all these it would have to be rated "R" especially, the torture scene. I would even be fine if they made an "unrated" verison when the movies came out on DVD. What do you guys think?

I think it should be rated R with a second release done at the same time rated PG-13 so that more Adults will see the version they would prefer to see, and the Parents so worried about their kids seeing a R Film won't be in such stitches.

BLADE RUNNER IS AN R FILM! - and that is not even racy.

My Mother apologized years later when she actually saw the R film then thought - why did I give my son such hell for watching his favorite film?

i dont think it will be rated R because if it was and i think they know this they woudl loose a lot of there younger fan base so i think its either gonna be Pg or PG-13

I completely agree. WB is never going to release two R-rated movies and lose the bulk of the under 13 audience (that would be a disastrous decision). Both installments will be PG-13 like GoF and OoTP. And really, HBP should've been rated PG-13. Since there's no sex or language (a couple of passionate kisses and one "b-tch" isn't nearly enough for an R rating), it will definitely be PG-13.

Hi all,

well, I guess a simple "Rated PG-13" would be ok for HP7.1 and HP7.2. Neither contain both movies explicit language (as e.g. "The Big Lebowski" does), nor do I think that David Yates will to the Alexandre Aja style and show violence as explicit as it can be shown - it is still Harry Potter, not "Hogstel" or "The Deathly Hallows Have Eyes" smile.gif ). Also "The Seven Potters", that Matrix'esque scene in King's Cross and the sea-scene do not explicitly need the camera being focussed on Dan's R-worthy parts of his body ;).

As Warner aimed for the more profitable PG for HBP, I really do not see a "Rated R" as one of the possibilities (also "Wolverine" was rated PG-13 with lots of fight sequences AND Jackman going starkers as well).
From my point of view the PG-13 is as good as it gets, but after that horrible "downtuning" of HP6, I wouldn't even be surprised if we will be presented with a Rated PG-version of "The Deathly Hallows"...

I definitely agree with you on this one. Some "R" parts can be reduced to PG-13. Anything less than that (PG, G, etc.) I don't think will be as enjoyable.

Well Harry already showed off his torso when he shared a bath with Moaning Myrtle in GoF and that was a PG-13/12A so he'll probably get to show off his torso(s) during the Seven Potters scene in DH Part 1.

I wonder if they will keep the bad language that characters like Ron said to Malfoy during the Battle of Hogwarts when he told him off for being ungrateful for having saved his life twice?

We'll Im 18, so I can go see it in theaters regardless of whether it's rated PG13 or ratedR, so I couldn't really care less.
lol
But I think that most [if not all] of the R rated scenes can be watered down abit to PG13, so that everyone can go watch it.
[And come on! It the last Harry Potter movies. WB is NOT going to do anything to loose their underage audiences.]

I agree with most of the posters on here. However, I would prefer a 12 over PG-13 simply being to try and cut down the 4 year olds and their parents who fill up cinema seats without having read the books.

I think that DH should get a fairly high rating anyway becuase of all the deaths and battles and having to watch it all played out.
