With the success of last month's new FanArt challenge we now offer a new challenge. This month's character is Harry's dad, James Potter.

As with Ron Weasley last month, this is a perfect opportunity to try your hand at drawing a character you may not have done before, or to try a different style. These should be NEW pieces, and preferably solo works with no other characters present. It will be interesting to see how an artist's James differs from their Harry, given canon-descriptions of them being very similar, but with obvious differences.

I can't wait to see these!

Well im a fairly new fan artist on the Leaky Gallery and love Harry Potter and when i saw this challenge i decided to draw my own version of James Potter. Mind you im not very good at using colour pencils (plus i drew this in pen) and since i have no fancy drawing tablet (yet) i had to try my best at using them. This pic of James was a very quick sketch and i like how it turned out so feel free to critique!

5th year James in the late afternoon sees that a victim has yet to recover from the prank he played a week ago. Yay boring Earth Science class! I'm just hoping I don't get tested on Polaris anytime soon...this paper should have been my notes. XD

Oh, also, just noting why I made James the way he is, you're a product of your environment. James came from a loving nurturing environment that allowed him to grow a lot more and enjoy himself at home. So I gave him a slight tan and he's much more muscular. Harry came from an environment that surpressed him heavily, so he's a bit paler and scrawnier. Oh and the eyes. And I don't have any idea if this made sense but I just thought I'd share. XD.

We would prefer that you post the image here in this thread first, for a couple weeks before uploading it to your FanArt Gallery album, LiveJournal, deviantART, whathaveyou.

To post a picture here, just upload a digital copy of your art to an image-hosting site such as PhotoBucket or Image Shack and then paste the [img][/img] url that the site generates here into your post. Example (and this has NOTHING to do with James Potter fan art, lol) this code from Photobucket
