This month's Featured FanArtist does it all! Portraits, canon, fanon, comics and fun pokes at Harry and the gang. For September 2008, the one and only

Cambryn (aka hillary-cw) has a real eye for depicting nuances of character and emotion in her portraits
as well as in the scenes drawn from the books.
This is perfectly shown in this scene from Prisoner of Azkaban: "Just ignore them, Harry" --

Here in the FantArt Gallery

A master of colour and shade, cambryn often uses photographic backgrounds for her drawings, which give them a unique look and "feel."
However, she also understands the use of black and white, and excels there as well.

You can find more of her art on her artsite at LiveJournal: http://hcwsketchblog.livejournal.com/

Also, as hillary-cw over at deviantART: http://hillary-cw.deviantart.com/

So take a look at cambryn's fabulous and fantastically fun art. Pick a few to spend a little time with,
and come back and tell us about them. I know you will find lots of art to love! wub.gif

I had the wonderful luck to spend almost a week with cambryn while I stayed in Dallas for the Portus convention.

One of the things that I really noticed (and envied) while watching her draw, was the absolute fluidity and freeness she has with her pencil sketching. She would knock out a sketch in mere minutes, and it would be absolutely beautiful work.

I also really like her style of work. All her characters seem to have such an elegance about them.

And on top of all that, she's as funny as hell biggrin.gif LOL. Hermione's hair will always be something of great amusement to me because of her XD I also have three wonderful sketches that she drew for me, and I shall treasure them always <3 biggrin.gif

And she ships the best ships of all! Remus/Tonks and Scorpius/Rose, LOLOL, so you just KNOW she's awesome ;) biggrin.gif

Art. IT R SRS BZN0RZ. :|

Love ya, dearest! [You're SO LUCKY I didn't put that Barty Crouch Jnr. dance move pic up here, LOLOL XDDDD]

Peace,
Rotae

I've just completely fallen for Cambryn's fanart. Her characters have such personality and realness about them and some are so funny! Especially
Harry's Chest Monster and One More for Luck?

And others are so touching, really beautiful artistically but also convey such emotion, like Luna and her Mum and Dumbledore's Funeral .

I just love these pieces, I think she is a fabulous featured FanArtist choice clap2.gif

One thing I absolutely LOVE about cambryn's art is her wicked sense of humour! This was her take on Snape's famous "Always!" line from DH --

I agree, Azkaban's Angel you just named four of my absolute favorite pieces done by Cambryn! Dumbledore's Funeral looks just as it seemed in my head when I read it. One More for Luck? had me laughing hysterically when I first saw it, and Harry's Chest Monster has been one of my longtime favorites!

On a dramatic note, one of the pieces I adore is Andromeda Mourning. Cambryn's depiction of the woman who truly lost the most in DH just breaks my heart. The shading and use of light are fantastic, the shadow behind her and all the detail in her clothes just make it so real. It makes me so glad she received one thing to hold onto in her grandson Teddy. cry.gif

She really knows how to use color. Her drawings are great! I feel the emotion in them, whether they're supposed to be funny or touching. I love Harry's Chest Monster. smile.gif

Thanks for stopping by, cambryn! (And I can't imagine you ever looking like Crouch! tongue.gif )

As wonderful as her coloured artwork is, she also does amazing black and white pieces --

This vision of a sexy Bella fits in nicely with the way Helena Bonham-Carter does Bella in the films, which I think is brilliant. I always LOVED the "faded beauty" aspect of the character that Jo pointed up, and it is nice to see that realised on the page. thumbup.gif

Haha, them sounds like fightin' words!! Don't make me post it! XDDDD

Nah, while at Portus (during the Yule Ball), we made up some dance moves for each of the HP characters. There is a BRILLIANT photo of us, Heather and Allison doing the Barty Crouch Jnr. ;) biggrin.gif

Peace,
Rotae
