I was just thinking today Susan bones is mentioned in bits and peices all the way from the first book yet not resulting in her doing anything interesting... yet (!) Susan is one of the first (she may even be the first I cant remember!) to be sorted in PS, shes a member of the DA and her aunt was madame bones who was murdered by Voldemort as apparently she was a very gifted witch but what if it was for a different reason?
At the very beggining of PS Hagrid mentions how Voldy wiped out some of the best witches and wizards of the age and he mentions the Bones' however they are obviously not wiped out as there are still some alive, as they are mentioned quite a lot, Susan is probably quite a gifted witch too even though coming from Hufflepuff as she was the first person to be able to apparate, well splinch themselves in apparition lessons, as we all know JK never writes anything for no reason I wonder if more about these bones's is going to be revealed and they may even have something to do with RAB as the last letter B could be for Bones.
Give me your comments everyone!!

I do think that RAB is Regulus since we know of no Bones with a first letter R. I personally think that Susan might be a LI for Neville if they both survive. I do think it's interesting how she has been kept proiminant in that she's not forgotten.

Yes, thats quite interesting. Obviously she's a classmate, and she's still alive after 6 years, I too am wondering just how she'll factor in to book 7!

That could be very interesting if she were to play a larger role...
But I don't know. JKR herself said she just made up a list of students in Harry's year. Maybe we just happen to hear about her a little bit because she just picks her name out from the list whenever she needs to use a student from Harry's year.
But it would be really cool if we could learn a bit more about her, and I kind of like her as a LI for Neville. (How cute!)

Since this thread is discussing Susan's role in Book 7, I'm going to move it to Unfogging the Future.

Ive always believed there something up with Susan Bones. But every time I bring that up. Someone slams it. She may even be one that dies.
When I first thought about it. I thought with the 4 Hogwarts founders, Would in the end there be four that stand together. I feel that it would be in Jo's character. That we find out in the end, that what was said in the beginning. Pretty much told us everone envolved. This also would include the 12 uses of Dragon blood. It was from the very beginning of the first book. Susan Bones and Dragon Blood..

Can I have a quote for that? I'm intruiged, and I don't quite understand.
I have to say, I'd like her to be the heir of Hufflepuff more than Zacharias Smith. She's a sweetheart, and he's...well obnoxious. However, the "Smith" thing makes sense so...
She may die, that'd be another name just to throw out there, someone we know and that we like, but no someone completely central to the plot.

I must say the first name that came to my mind (before i [and of course many others] had the brilliant idea of it being REGULUS BLACK of course) when i heard RAB, was BONES. Though now i am not sure whether i believe it to be BONES or BLACK or someone else...thats why i love these books and reading and participating in these discussions bc you never know what ideas will pop up and what mysteries JKR will unleash and then eventually solve.

Susan is probably quite a gifted witch too even though coming from Hufflepuff
What do you mean by even though she is in Hufflepuff!?! Sue will come after you
I would like to see more of Susan Bones in the last book, but with all that is left to do I don't know how likely it will be. Harry is sure is is not returning to Hogwarts (although I am hoping he will change his mind) so we may not get to see many Hogwarts students. However I really hope something is done to show the unity of Hogwarts like the sorting hat suggested. I really hope Susan still has a role to play but I don't know.

I think she should deffinitly play a larger role in the 7th book, because out of all the students that are not major characters, she is mentioned most frequently! And besides, I think everyone will have to take a part in the 7th book in the last fight against voldemort.

Just for fun, since it's been long established that JKR uses names carefully in the series, let's look at Susan Bones.
From behindthename.com:
SUSAN
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English
Pronounced: SOO-zan [key]
Short form of SUSANNA. A notable bearer was Susan B. Anthony, an American feminist of the 19th century.
SUSANNA
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English, Italian, Swedish, Finnish, Russian, Dutch, Biblical
Other Scripts: Сусанна (Russian)
Pronounced: soo-ZAN-a [key]
From Σουσαννα (Sousanna), the Greek form of the Hebrew name שׁוֹשַׁנָּה (Shoshannah) which was derived from the Hebrew word שׁוֹשָׁן (shoshan) meaning "lily" (in modern Hebrew this also means "rose"). In the New Testament this is the name of a woman who ministered to Christ. It also occurs in the Old Testament Apocrypha as the name of a woman falsely accused of adultery. The prophet Daniel clears her name by tricking her accusers, who end up being condemned themselves.
From ancestry.com:
Bones
English: variant of Bone 2.
Jewish (eastern Ashkenazic): metronymic from the Yiddish female personal name Bone, of Latinate origin.
Bone
English (of Norman origin): nickname meaning ‘good’, from Old French bon ‘good’.
English: nickname for a thin man, from Middle English bon ‘bone’ (Old English ban; compare Bain 2).
Hungarian (Bóné): from bóné denoting a particular kind of fishing net, hence a metonymic occupational name for a fisherman or perhaps for a maker of such nets.

I don't think that Susan Bones will play much a role in the 7th book. She was one of the first mentioned in PS because it was in alphabetical order. Hagrid didn't just mention the Bones as a family that was targeted. He also mentioned the McKinnions and the Prewetts (top of page 56, PS). I think that Neville and Luna will play larger roles in the 7th book than Susan Bones would.

Ah, but the Prewetts just happen to have been Molly Weasley's two murdered brothers. Susan could still have her day.

I think RAB could be a Bones that we don't know, because I've never really supported the whole RAB=Regulus Black. I also think, as Amelia Bones' niece, Susan might play a larger role in book 7. Her loyalty as a Hufflepuff
might come in handy somehow in a big duel.

Didn't that director (Something Alfonso) say that Rowling was adamant Susan be included in the film?
Does anyone know Susan Bones parents name? I can find were it says Mr. and Mrs. Bones= Susans Grandparents. Then Susans Aunt and Uncles name. But no mention of her parents NAME. Why would there be everyone but the parents. Confused

Susan could help Volemort keeps coming after her family. All this bad things are happening because of Voldemort, she might want to take a stand.
