This has been one busy week for Leaky! First they are living it up at Lumos, and now it's onto the Big Apple and our heroine herself, Ms Jo Rowling thumbup.gif !

Naturally we already have images in our Galleries!

Here you will find images from the press conference and here you will find images of Jo outside Radio City Music Hall meeting Leaky staffer mlwl biggrin.gif . (Don't worry, St Mungo's Healers have been dispatched to revive her wink.gif !!)

Edited to fix links.

Images of Jo reading from HBP can now be seen here in our Gallery.

Just seeing her looking stunning on that throne is just..so...please excuse me whilst I channel Sue!

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...................

For everyone's information, Jo read from the chapter in which DD visits Tom in the Orphange and tells him he is a wizard.

When I saw mlwl's picture, i just totally melted because it is such a cool picture. If she is the one with her hand over her mouth like she is in utter shock, then that is my favorite picture in the whole of the galleries.
Hagiographer13
Is that a Slytherin pendant I see Jo wearing in mlwl's pic?

Verrry interesting! ponder.gif
Madsdagirl
*sigh* mlwl is TOO lucky.
She seems so nice in all the pics. Really pretty and friendly but also just plain nice to all the fans.

We now have a full set of screencaps of the Harry, Carrie & Garp appearance Jo made with Stephen King and John Irving last August 2006 in New York City in our unparalleled TLC Image Galleries.

In addition to the original 23, there are now over 1000 images from the video of the event! You can see them here:

"An Evening with Harry, Carrie and Garp" August 1, 2006

Here is one of those images--

That was such a magical night! Looking at the pictures reminds me of the fun and drama my best friend and I had that night. Our train broke down on the way to NYC so we missed the very begining and a little bit of Stephen King's reading but we did make it!

Fantastic news! As mentioned on Leaky Main Jo Rowling has produced an exclusively-limited edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. These "fairy tales" featured heavily in the final Potter book, and Jo completed a mere seven copies, six of which are to be given privately to a select few. The seventh will be auctioned off for charity, specifically to benefit the Children's Voice group.

The Children's Voice charity (formerly Children’s High Level Group (CHLG)) aims to stamp out cruelty, neglect and abuse of young people, especially in Eastern Europe.

There is a video of Jo discussing this here in the TLC Video Gallery, and screencaps of that video are now in the Image Gallery!

Here are a few of those amazing images from the book --

The catalogue from the auction which will contain images from the book is available to preorder, as mentioned in the Leaky News article. thumbup.gif

I really want that one auctioned one but I can't give up college for that. I really hope Scholastic will make them into what they did for Fantastic Beasts and Quidditch Through the Ages. That way, the person who gets the actual book right now could be proud in having the one Jo actually wrote- literally, with ink onto paper.

I feel like a bad fan.
Hagiographer13
As mentioned on TLC Main there is an original drawing by Jo Rowling up for auction at Sotheby's on December 13 in London --

Here in the Galleries

Jo did the drawing in 1999 for BBC charity Children in Need. This sketch, along with that jewel-encrusted hand-written and illustrated copy of Tales of Beedle the Bard noted above, and other HP-related books and artwork are estimated to bring in well over £70,000 ($143,000.00)!

(BTW--with the winter holidays coming, I have added these to my wish-list over at Sotheby's. smile.gif )

We now have many more pictures of the Beedle the Bard book including this one:

I know that I'm happy Amazon decided to buy this book and share it with all of us! Thanks Amazon!

As mentioned last month on TLC Main Jo Rowling was named Entertainer of the Year by Entertainment Weekly! woohoo.gif

We now have that lovely portrait of Jo from the article, by Matt Mahurin, here in the Galleries --

I love this picture. JK Rowling is so beautiful in person, and this picture really captures that beauty. Although I doubt while she was writing she was that poised and serene, as she was busy tying up a ton of plot points, it is a wonderful image.

I also love how the artist drew all the readers in the background, it really helps to show how Jo touched people and inspired them to read.

Agree, completely. The portrait is simply amazing. I wish I could paint like that. All the children reading on one side, the "Hollywood" sign in the corner, clouds rolling up to the center, where Jo sits....It's very well-made. Perfectly capturing the right essence, and very simply so--you know, without needing to show sparkles, brooms, snitches, wands, and all that excessive stuff.

I really love this. XD

As mentioned on TLC Main Bloomsbury is set to publish a print edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard by JK Rowling this December! There will be both a standard, and deluxe edition, with all proceeds going to Jo's Children’s High Level Group charity. Here is the standard edition cover, artwork by Jo herself --

Very exciting news! excited.gif

I am drooling all over that Collector's Edition! drool.gif

This is very exciting! I really love the Beedle the Bard Tales Jo has written (so creative!) from the plot descriptions on Amazon, and I can't wait to read them word for word! *adds this in big block letters to Christmas list for hubby* biggrin.gif

Now that The Tales of Beedle the Bard has been released, we have some great new images! Here are the pictures from the NYC installation of US publisher Arthur Levine's hand-written copy, and of him reading "The Fountain of Fair Fortune."

Also, as noted on TLC Main there are reports and pictures on-line from the release event in Edinburgh which Jo attended.

We now have in the Gallery the Collector's Edition prints from The Tales of Beedle the Bard! I really like this one from "The Tale of the Three Brothers", very sad! cry.gif

That is one of my absolute favorites! excited.gif It's so dramatic. I really love how vague the girl is, it shows how she truly did not come back from the dead as the brother had hoped she would. *sniffle*

Since I STILL haven't gotten Beedle yet, does anyone know which story this fascinating image is from?

I love the whimsey in this, and quite frankly feel that Jo's illustrations are as good as any I've seen for this type of literature. smile.gif I just have no idea what is going on here! lol.gif

It is from Babbity Rabbity and her Cackling Stump. But I won't tell you what is going on!

Ah, of course. I know the story, just haven't had the pleasure of reading it yet. I can hardly wait! woohoo.gif

I love the one from Babbitty Rabbitty that Hagiographer13 posted. lol.gif Reading that story made me laugh, and it is one of my favorites from the book! Seeing that picture makes me like that the story even more.

I was looking at all the prints from the Collector's Edition in the galleries and I found this image!

I love the clothes washing themselves in the backround! And her face is sad looking, as if she just got caught, but at the same time it seems she is very amused. She could be saying 'I know something you don't know!' (about maguc and all) I love it!

My favorite story is The Fountain of Fair Fortune, mainly because in the normal edition of the book, the pictures were really good! Especially the fountain itself.

here in the galleries

The dragon twisting around the fountain and all the symbols (especially the DH sign) that are in the image are amazing! I wish the fountain was real, it was be so beautiful!
Hagiographer13
So glad to finally have gotten Beedle, and, as I knew I would, I have fallen in love all over again with Jo's incredible story-telling ability. What would I have given to have been able to be at Parliament Hall in Edinburgh to hear her read . . .

Here in the Galleries

I especially treasure this book for it's insights into the character of Dumbledore (far more beneath the surface than we ever could have guessed) AND for her amazing artwork. artist.gif
