I have ADORED Alan Rickman ever since I saw Robin Hood:Prince of Thieves more than a decade ago. The ONLY reason to see this movie is to watch Rickman. He gives a very campy performance and absolutely steals every scene he is in!

I also LOVED him in Sense and Sensibility. He, Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant...oh my goodness, THE WHOLE CAST WAS WONDERFUL. A very special movie.

Having seen him in the four HP movies, I cannot imagine anyone else in this role. I LOVE Rickman so much that I'm certain Snape will turn out to be GOOD not EVIL!

But, I have to say (at the risk of mentioning the h*** word) my first thought was, whats with the hair?? But, looking at the pics some more, he actually looks totally awesome & I guess it's a measure of his acting ability that, even in a still pic, he so is able to look the part.

Thanks for adding these awesome pics. I have both these movies, but I watch Sense & Sensibility more often, because Alan Rickman is just awesome in that, in my opinion it's one of his best movies. His acting is fine in TMD but the mustach irritates me & I cant help but wonder why did they give him that look (plus its not believable how quickly his girlfriend who was devastated at his loss, suddenly tires of him when he does return).
But, for looking & playing the part he never fails, whatever the role.

MMMM Lovely pictures

Just saw Sense and Sensibility on television this morning, it was breathtaking. I only watched it cause AR was in it, but I ended up loving everything about it. It was beautiful! AR reading that poem was beautiful, I was in heaven!

Hey, Only one week and 3 days until snow cake is out in germany (and in the rest of europe, I think?)!! who else is going to see it?

I'm at work! I can't be looking at things like this but how can I not? Now my co-worker is going to have to mop me off the floor.

I thought I had missed Snow Cake, it premiered like forever ago, & no one seemed to know when or if it would be on general release. I'm just hoping that my *local* or should I say nearest theater gets this movie, because it only has one screen & so doesnt show all the movies that are on general release. So now I'm reassured that I didnt miss it already. I definately hope to be able to go see Snow Cake.

Not sure how I've been missing this thread, but I'm glad I found it.

Thanks for the pics from Closet Land. I've seen clips from the movie, but can't find it anywhere to actually see the whole thing.

But I have An Awfully Big Adventure. I really like Alan in that movie, though there is a twist that's disturbing, to say the least. I actually like that one pic of him where he looks a bit scary. It's a funny moment between the two characters as they recognize one another.

I saw Snow Cake last June at the Seattle Int'l Film Festival. I really, really love that movie. I guess it won't be out in the US theaters until Christmas and I am not sure whether it's wide release or limited. At any rate, I will go see it again. Rickman is so wonderful in Snow Cake, as is Sigourney Weaver. And so is Carrie-Anne Moss.

I'm anxious to see Snowcake, too! Alan is so versatile it's scary!

I think there is no date for australia yet, at least that's what I read when I was looking for the german release date two or three month ago...

To anybody who hasn't seen it yet, don't go and watch the trailer on youtube or something, it basically reveals the whole plot, I wish I hadn't seen it.

Looking at pictures of that man is like a little slice of heaven! Yummy!!!

Okay, apparently I'm the only one here - but I do *not* think a)Alan Rickman is good looking or b)that effects his performance as Snape. I loooove him as Snape - he has Snape's sensitive, evil, manipulative, quietly commandingly, cruel sides down pat. But I'm sorry - the pics just don't do it for me. He's oooollllldddd, people - old! But hey - whatever makes you happy.

Speaking as a 35 year old woman, I have to say Mr Rickman is ridiculously attractive. I am however able to distinguish between the man and the character and therefore I don't care if Snape does his best Mr Darcey impression in book/film 7 - I'll still hate him !

Me 2! There's not really a choice, is there? Alan or the other guy....hmm so tough. Not.

Nicholas Flamel is old. 60 is older than 16, but old? Age is a question of attitude, both that of the individual in question, and the attitude of the person judging. It's kind of like saying old makes him unworthy or less worthy. So what if he's 60. To begin with he looks *young*, he sounds *young* & he acts (in all meanings of the word) *young*.
And, he can be 60 or 665, he's still one of the finest actors of all time. His age is irrelevant to his ability to act, to perform, to convey his character, to capture the imagination of millions of people. Whether he's 60 or 665 he still looks the way he looks, talks the way he talks ... if he turned round tomorrow and said ... only kidding guys, I'm really 30, that wouldnt change anything, not his appearance or ability or talent.
He can play any role in any situation and be totally convincing &captivating, whether as the good guy (Sense & Sensibility for example), the bad guy (Die Hard) or the sarcastic guy (Galaxy Quest). There are a thousand adjectives that could be used to describe Alan Rickman, gifted, talented, legendary, awesome ... but *old* would not be one that would have sprung to my mind.
Just my two knuts...

Seriously, I have yet to see a pic or a performance of AR that isnt great. He is just such a totally talented guy that he perfectly looks the part, whatever role he's playing in whatever era & dress costume.
