For that we'll have to wait and find out, hopefully in book 7, if he knows about the horcruxes. I wonder if Harry might need Snape to help him kill a horcrux (disable? sounds very Star Trek: "Horcrux disabled, Captain. Shall I raise shields?"). Anyway, back to Harry, he will need help physically getting rid of the horcruxes, if Dumbledore himself needed help. Ron and Hermionie are good, but I think he will require extra aid, and, well, obviously if somehow Snape ends up helping with that, he'll obviously not be on Voldemort's side.

Oh, even if it is off topic, that's just a gem of a start. "I Don't Know How to Love Him" could be a Lily flashback (or Narcissa, depending on your views), "Horcruxes on Their Minds" sung by Harry, "Lord Voldemort's Song" (So you are the spy, you're the great double spy - prove to me that you're devine; Kill Dumbledore and we'll be fine... if you do that for me, then I'll let you go free - Come on you King of the News.), "The Severus Must Die (He is Dangerous)" sung by Bella, "Severus Snape, Superstar" sung by Harry (or Dumbledore), my personal favorite, "Trelawny's Dream," and much, much more

Here's the rules (so to speak). This is a thread where you can create musical numbers! Rewrite songs, song titles, etc. and make them fit Harry Potter. It can be funny (as above), sappy, cute, whatever. It does not have to be from a musical. Since not every knows the same music, though, it could behoove you to mention the name, artist, and perhaps genre/origins of the song that you S.P.o.O.F. (had to write that in somehow). Many of us will be posting a lot, so just browse and catch on.

This is the first filk I've ever written. It's to the tune of ABBA's song "Honey Honey", with Voldemort singing it. I wrote it originally for the broadway filkcast on PotterCast. It was kind of loosly based on a PotterCast episode where John said that Harry wasn't going to fight Voldemort because he was so full of love. I got lazy with some of the rhymes though

Hey everyone,

Well pat me on the back - I just finished my first FILK recording session and I actually figured out how to make Audacity work for me. YAY!

I recorded 3 FILKs and I'm quite happy with the results.

In this thread can we only share typed lyrics? If not here, is there a place to share our finished MP3's? I'd really love some experienced FILKers opinions/comments/etc on what I've done so far.

Wow, these are all excellent! I think I might have a go at writing a filk, although don't expect me to actually record it. I don't have any of the equipment or anything. But I think it'd be fun to do one to the tune of 'Before He Cheats' by Carrie Underwood. (Yeah, i'm a huuuuuge country music fan.

gingin77- I love that song, Jesus Take the Wheel. But it always makes me want to cry! I don't easily get teary eyed over much.

Yay country! I've actually got a Filk to a Kenney Chesney song in the works at the moment! You should definitely take a stab at writting a filk. It's a lot of fun and totally addictive! I swear every song I hear now I turn it into a filk in my head! LOL

Hi everyone

I'm new on the forum (well, sort of; I was here once before but somehow I lost track and my username, well... ). I'm a regular PotterCast listener and I thought those filk show's are the BEST OF THEM ALL! And then I found out that there is a filk thread on the forums, so I HURRIED to get there!

I liked the Brave Young Potter filk (especially the end)! And I was so AMAZED at artemiswolfang's voice! WOW!

I have started to record my very very first filk but after hearing your filk... uhm, I will rehearse a little more, I think... For a start I will post the lyrics, OK? English is not my mother tongue, so I'm really happy if you guys point out any mistakes to me. And of course I'm looking forward to any comments you professionals have for a raw beginner!

Hi Fairest_Lily, thanks for your compliments, I really appreciate them! I can return them honestly, your filk is WONDERFUL! You've chosen one of the REALLY great moments of the BEST musical EVER - but then, I think this musical consists of nothing else than REALLY great moments... Anyway, I LOVE your lyrics, you have found such a great way to reflect a similar situation in Harry Potter with just as many aspects as in the original! What a deed!

I really, really long to record my filk because, in fact, I'm quite proud of it but I must first get started with headsets and stuff and get used to Audacity. But I have written another filk which I have already recorded! Next thing is to set up a site where I can place it, so stay tuned...

A question: Have any of you found a CD with the orchestral part of Les Misérabeles but without the voices? I would be so happy. The music on the CD I found in a music store in Zurich is rather poor. Maybe someone knows a good source?

I' ve worked like a fool this weekend (but this doesn't say anything, as all my friends think I'm a fool anyway with my obsession) to get my Harry Potter Filk Site online. There is not only ONE musical but SERVERAL DOZENS!!! I found them on this link: http://home.att.net/~coriolan/musical/table5.htm. I checked some of them and they're truly amazing! It is an incredible site with hundreds of filks, but unfortunately no music files.

I actually sent a filk to PotterCast and I'm so NERVOUS whether they're going to accept it. It would be such an HONOR!!! I keep my fingers crossed... and for everyone else who sends filks as well!

I've actually never had a song on a filk show yet. I'm really new to filking and just barely starting recording. I actually just sent two (Voldie Baby and one about Moaning Myrtle) to PotterCast today in hopes that one or both will make it on the show (wasn't sure if we could submit more than one so I sent both and told them to pick if only one was allowed).

Oh, so I was mistaken, sorry. I'm not very familiar with pop songs (I was raised on classical music), so I get mixed up all the time. I thought there was a filk with the same title (but I can't tell what the tune was). So, anyway, I like you Moaning Myrtle Filk! It's very sweet, especally to the tune of Rudolphus the Red-Nosed Rendeer. I think I've never seen a filk on Moaning Myrtle before - I'm sure that's a bonus for the show! So, keep your fingers crossed! And I know of other shows that some sent several filks (and got played several!), so that should be no problem. Good on you!

First of all: CONGRATULATIONS, LadyA!!! PotterCast #68 is out, and your Moaning Myrtle filk's on the show!!! Wow! Well done! I'm so happy for you! I'm still hoping to be on the second part...

I was busy with some more filks. One is called "Musings in the night". It was inspired by the scene in the first movie when Harry is sitting on the window sill in his very first night at Hogwarts. The music I chose is "Abendempfindung" by Mozart (KV 523). Unfortunately, I don't play the piano and I haven't got the accompaniment to this song. If there is someone out there who's got an mp3-file (or can make one) and could send it to me I would be so grateful (I can send you the scores, if necessary)! For a start, I have recorded the filk without any accompaniment (see beneath).

Then I wrote a second filk, also very gloomy. It is about Ginny mourning the loss of her relationship at the end of book 6, and it's called "The Life I Lived". I wanted to write a filk for "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical Les Misérables, because I simply love that song and always cry whenever I hear it. It was a TOIL somehow, it did not start out well, but I worked hard on it for several days, and now I'm quite contended.

Yes, Merry New Year everyone! And to who ever posted about the Rocky Harry Potter Picture Show, I can't remember who, but I encourage you strongly to post anything from there that you have come up with so far! That is my favorite movie! I have tried to come up with a filk for the opening song Science Fiction Double Feature Picture Show but have never had time to just sit down and think about it.

Hi! I have the begining of a filk but im kind of stuck with the next lyrics.

Well, it'd be brilliant. I thought about that once too.
There is a lot of Wizard Rock around like Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, The Whomping Willows, The Moarning Myrtles...
I'd love to hear Draco singing 'My Dad Is Rich', it's a brilliant song from Draco and the Malfoys.
And imagine Mrs. Weasley singing that mellow song from Celestina Warbeck 'A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love'. Haha.
