Tell how you discovered PotterCast!
I can recall the show, it was
PotterCast #45. I use to listen to MuggleCast, and only MuggleCast. Then one day I was bored of waitting for the next MC and downloaded PotterCast 45, because it had some MuggleCasters in it. At first I didn't really like it (I'm sure I was just recovering from a major brain injury at the time

) and I was shocked at the Mods love for Tom (yet they were so funny and fun to listen to). But I soon discovered PotterCast was a lot better than other Podcast, and it's now the only podcast I listen to.

I think it was with in my first week on the lounge. I was looking at every inch of TLC as a newbie and clicked on every side menu (where all the chat times are located) link and news bar at the top of TLC and there was something about PotterCast on it and clicked on the PotterCast link. When I came upon this really cool, too blue, website. I was wondering what a PotterCast was and clicked on PC 35 randomly and have been hooked since.

I actually discovered PotterCast before Leaky and the other internet sites. We had a really slow computer at the time, so I never really went on it much and googling "Harry Potter" to see what was out there would have taken forever. I had to resort to theorising with my family, who couldn't care less. Anyway, PotterCast has just come out and my Dad was browsing itunes on one of the computers where he works, and, he saw PotterCast and downloaded it onto his ipod for me (maybe to stop me bugging him about what he thought the horcruxes were

) So I listened to the first episode and
loved it. He actually listened until episode 10 or so, but PotterCast was too hardcore for him, I suppose. Since I had a slow computer, I made my poor father download it for me every week at work until episode 57, when I finally had a good, fast computer and an ipod

I wonder what would've happened if he had subscribed to Mugglecast (which I listen to now, too) instead...

I started listening to PotterCast from about eppisode 3 after becoming bored with MuggleCast lol.
So yeh i am one of the many who found MuggleCast first but converted to Pottercast.
I still listen to MuggleCast but i always listen to PotterCast First.

I discovered PotterCast at episode 51 - the one with the first segment of the Matt Lewis interview. I listened to it from the main Leaky News page. I don't have an ipod but I downloaded iTunes and have listened to it from there since. It was the first time I had ever even heard of Podcasting but I've listened to all 70 episodes now and all the LeakyMugs.
I loved that first show. It was great to find somewhere else with people obsessing about HP and to get all the latest news and I thought the hosts (Melissa and Sue) were really entertaining.
John wasn't on that episode and then when I did hear him he really irritiated me.

Sorry John! (It's actually because he sounds exactly like my ex-boyfriend who I can't stand anymore!) Anyway, I got over that after a couple of episodes because John is hilarious and I'm very much a John fan-girl now.
I've tried Mugglecast but the boys annoy me most of the time. I listen occasionally if the episode guide looks particularly interesting. I do like Snapecast though.

Kinda gotta do a little background here. First off I knew about Mugglnet and then the Leaky Cauldron and got to the point where I visited both sites.
First I listened to MuggleCast. Many may gasp at this but this is only because it was out before PotterCast. Then I saw PotterCast came out when it was announced on TLC. And now I listen to both still and have been around for both since the very beginning. Yeah it's not that exciting of a story. I listen to a few other podcasts but PC and MC are two that I always make sure I listen to (or at least catch up on first) ...Oh and Leaky Fan Cast of course

i think I must be one of the few who listened to PC before MC...and then of course I also listen to the LeakyMugs and Lose the Tone!

Like a few others, I discovered PotterCast through MuggleCast. Then, MuggleCast and PotterCast did a joint podcast about, I think, the Goblet of Fire trailer. I liked it, so I went onto iTunes and downloaded the most recent episdoe of PotterCast. It was a great episdoe, so I subscribed. Now I listen to both podcasts.

Resistance is futile!! Leaky has been a crutch of mine since sometime in 2002. Whenever work was stressing me out, or I needed a bit of escapism, Leaky would always be there, as addicted to HP as me
As soon as TLC announced the Podcast I downloaded I-tunes, a few months later, I got myself an Ipod, so I could listen on the way to work, rather than having to wait until I got home. It's just a natural extension of fandom
Now I'm subscribed to at least 12 different podcasts, covering all my interests, but Pottercast will always be my favourite

Like various others i too discovered Pottercast through Mugglecast.
At first, i didn't even know leaky existed (i know, it's hard to believe!). I simply Googled "Harry Potter" one day and i discovered my first fan site, which happened to be Mugglenet. For a long time i'd just drop in there every once in a while to check on the news, but one day they had a post announcing a new episode of mugglecast and i was interested in the discussion topic so a checked it out. I ended up getting hooked, but one HP podcast a week just wasn't enough! By that time i had notated the mugglecasters mentioning Leaky and Pottercast every once in a while so i decided to check it out. To my surprise i found out leaky was way more, umm, fast and thorough with there news than Mugglenet. And i ended up falling completely in love with Pottercast!

I always listen to it first if i can and i can't describe how much it has affected me as Hp fan. Pottercast even got me to join the Leaky Lounge, which i love!!!

It actually took me a while to get into the whole Harry Potter podcast thing. I first heard about MuggleCast on mugglenet, but I wasn't really interested and only listened to parts of a few shows. However, I listened to the the New York 2005 live podcast because I wanted to hear about the movie. I absolutely loved the show and subscribed to PotterCast.
I am so glad they did the LeakyMug or else I wouldn't have found PotterCast(which rocks my world) or Leaky(the best site there is)!

I've been with PotterCast from the beginning.

I was a frequent visitor of TLC and at the beginning of 2005 the LL had opened, so I was spending more and more time on TLC and the LL. When TLC announced their podcast, PotterCast, on the news I was curious and admittedly a little excited to hear it as I had never actually heard people really get into the Harry Potter discussions. Needless to say I was hooked; the Bonne Wright interview, Garth, and I think Arthur Levine. I really wasn't a fan of Mugglenet at this time so I didn't listen to Mugglecast at all for awhile. I have every single Episode of Pottercast from Number 1 all the way through what we've got right now.

A while ago, I finally got iTunes, and then took a course at my school on podcasting (which I had never heard of before). I went home that night and typed in "harry potter podcasts" in the search bar. PotterCast was the first result, and it sounded good, so I downloaded it.
And the rest is history!

I fell into all of this (leaky lounge, potter cast, TLC) all by just wanting to find a place to talk about Harry Potter. I checked the news daily on TLC and saw this thing called a "Pottercast" I thought "what the heck" and listened to an episode. I thought it was so funny and informative that I tuned in when it popped up again on the "news" from TLC and became a fan from constantly catching the shows. Now I get it directly downloaded each week to my ipod and LOVE IT!
Gata love this site.. I have found more cool things from this ONE site than many of my other hobbies

Looking back it boggles my mind. I just waned to discuss Book Six with someone. My friend told me about this one website she found. I believe it was a Neil Gaiman forum, funny enough. In the section for other authors there was a Harry Potter thread. It was so huge. It had more pages than most of the regular ones. It's kind of a blur now, but I know I found out about MC first. Then I found out about PC. Through PC I found out about TLC. Before that I wasn't online much. Now, I'm on all the time.

Well, as much as I am a PotterCast fan, I found out about it through MuggleCast. (Kind of)
I had just gotten my iPod and started browsing around through "podcasts" (at that time I had no clue what podcasts were) and I found MuggleCast. It was interesting so I searched "Harry Potter" and lo and behold PotterCast came up as one of their searches.. I listened to it and it was very interesting. So even though I listened to MuggleCast first, I LIKED PotterCast first.

Since the beginning of the last year I started to visit Leaky more often and then I read some stuff about a certain "Pottercast" but I didn't knew what it was. Time went by, and I was reading more about "Pottercast". Then in August I decided to give it a try. And today I'm often a listener. It's also good to laugh a little bit.

Mine's not too exciting. I have a friend who has been listening since particularly the beginning and I remember her telling me about how brilliant this PotterCast was. I mean as a regular vistior of TLC I would see mentions of it but even then I still didn't download it as I was very unsure how the whole thing works.
Anyhow, when I was on holidays with this friend she got out her ipod and we started to listen to PotterCast in the car. I found then to be interesting and not to mention intelligentually funny so once I got back from my holiday I started downloading the eps. That was back in Sept/Oct '05'. Now I can't get enough of PotterCast. It is an essential to my week and I even listen to old eps during the week. Even my six year old daughter absolutely loves PotterCast and thinks Sue is the best, John is funny and Melissa is cool (she wants a little Moochka)!
So thanks goes to the PotterCast team for making the start of the week just that little bit brighter... Oh and thanks Sue for turning my Gryffindor born daughter into a self confessed Puff (says the proud Hufflepuff mother). love you all!

I found out about it here on Leaky. I kept seeing "SQEE!" and "MAFIA" in people's signatures and wondered what the heck it meant. I did some investigating, and thought "PotterCast? OK, I'll check it out." I think PC 23 was my first. I used to just listen to them when I went to the gym, but then it got to the point where I couldn't wait and now I listen to them as soon as they come out. Love it!

A long time ago, some time before OOTP, and maybe before GOF, I spent a very short time looking at Harry Potter sites. However, I was incredibly young, and so I didn't get much out of it. I did remember Mugglenet existing because I very rarely visited HP sites (there was one where you could be sorted, and then make an owl or something. I think it's gone now.)
Then, about a month before HBP was released, I read an article in my local news paper about Melissa and Emerson and that they were going to interview JKR. I had been a fan of the books all along, but not to the extent that I am now. So, that summer, I became engrossed in both sites. I was 13 turning 14 so I was more comfortable on mugglenet, especially their forums (no offense ment) I was around for the start of both podcasts and was hooked. At first I liked MuggleCast more because I was involved with the forums over on mugglenet. However, after a couple months of lurking here, I heard about the PS/SS reading groups (perhaps through PotterCast). I started to post a lot more frequently, and from then on, I've been an avid poster and a rabid PotterCast fan. I still listen to MuggleCast and love it, though.

I joined the PotterCast fun soon into 2006. I was sad cos with no book or movie, I assumed it would be a really sorry news year in Potterverse, so I was desperate for new information to keep me going. That's when I stumbled across a post on Leaky for PotterCast #25 featuring an interview with Chris Rankin who had movie five info. I gave it a listen, and was instantly hooked. I stayed up until like 4 in the morning listenning to that and the NYC Live Podcast.
The rest as they say is history...

I discovered it while looking on The Leaky Cauldron. I saw it on the side and was like "PotterCast? What's that?" So I clicked on the play button and have been listening ever since. I'm not sure what number it was but it was the one with the house elves sing "It's a Dark Mark Life." For the longest time I was so confused with Daaaawlish.

I was extremely obsessed with the books having read them way too many times, but I had no idea the whole fandom existed. I was on itunes one day, and the featured podcast was pottercast. I thought, that's pretty cool, a podcast about harry potter, I'll check that out. The first episode I listened to was one of the leaky mugs, because it was the most recent one, and as you may know the leaky mugs get really off topic, and I was definitely unimpressed, as it had almost nothing to do with harry potter. Maybe about a week or two later, I gave it another chance, and listened to an actual episode, and was hooked. Somewhere in their I found mugglecast as well, and started going on leaky and other hp sites, although it took me awhile to get onto the leaky lounge. So it's thanks to pottercast that I got into the whole fandom.

Funny enough, I discovered PotterCast because of MuggleCast
Heard that Mugglenet was THE place to go for information, one thing led to another and I started listening to MuggleCast.
After a few episodes, I went back to the beginning and heard Melissa from that first infamous episode discussing why the podcasts were pulled.
From there, I heard the MuggleCast episode with John on it and immediately jumped over to PotterCast.
John had me hooked from the moment I heard his first joke

I was listening to my podcast (about podcasts, ironic enough), and I heard a recommendation to Mugglecast. So I went right away and subscribed to it through iTunes, and when I found it, I saw Pottercast, and several others that I listen to when I typed 'Harry Potter.'
Pottercast is my second favorite of the bunch, right after Mugglecast. (Sorry!) But it's still excellent.

I'd been a longtime Leaky reader, and when I got an iPod I needed some things to put on it. I ended up subscribing to PotterCast through iTunes. The first episode I ever listened to was PC #31 with Jamie Waylett as a guest host. It was so cool to listen to him, but what really got me hooked was John.

I'll admit I'm a huge fan of his stupid jokes.

Soon after reading HBP I went looking on iTunes for HP-related podcasts, so I've been listening to PotterCast since the beginning (August 2005). From what I can remember the 1st episode was a bit hard on the ears (sound quality-wise).

I remember discovering PotterCast. I always used to browse the internet for HP news and things and had come across Mugglenet, Leaky, and HP-Lexicon several times but never really thought about reading much into the websites on more than just news. Then, I sorta stopped for a while for some reason, proly school, but then started browsing again and I was on Lexicon and I missed taking the first Wombat by like a day or something and got upset. So, I was just looking at websites to see if I could get an ID, but when I was on Leaky, I saw PotterCast, and so I downloaded the latest episode, The One Without Melissa, via itunes, and I loved it. There were so many more PotterCasts after that; I was hooked.

I saw PotterCast on the main page of Leaky and thought 'Hey, that looks cool,' so I went to iTunes and subscribed to it. That was episode 42, and I remember thinking Lorie's accent was just the best. And then I went on vacation and we were driving in the car for like 7 hours so I really needed something to keep me occupied, so I downloaded some PotterCasts to my mp3 player and I've been listening to it ever since!

I never was into the fandom until August 2005, I had been to some site once that had tons of book 6 rumors (comunicating with CF cards) but until I found mugglecast episodes 1-3 and pottercast episode 1 (WITH BONNIE WRIGHT) on iTunes I never knew there was such a massive online community. Been listening since episode 1 and loving it.

I discovered PotterCast when was goofing around with my iTunes. I just typed in the words Harry Potter, and there it was! I guess the first episode I listened to was episode 6 or 7... I remember being fully hooked by the time the 8th came out.
I was into PotterCast before I ever was absorbed by the fandom. I'd been a fan for ages. But no-one I knew around me who liked Potter was as fascinated by it as me. Actually... hardly anyone in Holland who is a PotterFan knows much about the gigantic HPfandom here on the Lounge. They don't care for it as much as they care for the movies.
I hope that I might change that a little. Potterfans are still a bit misunderstood. Though I don't get that when you're into Potter you're a geek, and when you haven't read the series or seen the movies you're a loser... :S Someone has yet to explain it to me....
I'm planning on making Leaky known to the Dutchies! I have some small ideas, but the real thing is still to come. Potter isn't lame or dorky, Potter is intelligent and intriguing!

I was more of a mugglenetter so when they first had their podcast, they mentioned something about leaky copying them, and then they had the leaky mug so i went to listen to the pottercast, and i liked the informal parts of the podcast, the rest seemed kinda boring and long (sorry!) so now i still listen to mugglecast, and the beginning and end of pottercast, as well as the interesting interviews, and the quizzes they had in the beginning. im still more of a mugglenerd but recently they have been very slow on news so i have started to come on leaky more often.

They kept talking about this Leaky site and this other Potter related podcast that I had to check it out. I came it about Show 4 or so...I made sure that I downloaded all the ones that I missed... I don't know how I missed it!! But now I am happy to admit that PotterCast has top billing in my mind. I do still listen to *cough*mugglecast*cough* but no where near as faithfully as I do PotterCast! I am 23 mugglecast shows behind (I had to go and count)

cairadawn, you think being 23 shows behind is bad? I haven't actually listened to anything of mugglecast earlier than say...ooh I dunno...episode 40? The only reason I actually listen to it at all is because PotterCast usually comes out a few hours-day later. But trust me, if they were released at the exact same second each week, I wouldn't even give MuggleCast a second glance. PC all the way!!! And I listen to the PC episode all..week..long. I don't particularly remember how I stumbled upon PotterCast. I'm sure I read something about it here, and over the summer I started listening in. I've never actually listened to MuggleCast because I think PotterCast is extremely sufficient for all my Potter listening needs!

I must say, however, that Pottercast is responsible for me going to see Lady in the Water. I don't watch scary movies, and M. Night Shaymalan's movie's tend to be in that genre. But when he was interviewed on Pottercast, they talked of the movie and when he explained it was different and based of a bedtime story, I figured it might actually be something I'd enjoy. And while the plot was a little shallow (expected for an original bedtime story), I really very much enjoyed the movie. And I wouldn't have seen it were it not for Pottercast!!
Of course I have very much enjoyed Pottercast, and although it's difficult to find time to listen sometimes, I do my best! So thanks Melissa, John, Sue, and everyone who makes it possible!

You rock!

I am not sure why I still (or trying to anyway) listen to mugglecast. PotterCast is soo much better...PotterCast has this professional feel to it where mugglecast doesn't, although Mugglecast does try. I guess the reason I a still listen is because I feel I have to give the Muggle boys a chance...If they are too strange for me I go straight back to that weeks PC. I can honestly say that I have already listened to this weeks about 6 times!
There is definitely no contest PotterCast wins hands down every time...
