My favourite FanArtist is Heather Campbell, aka Makani. Big Mak has a delightful sense of humour in her art, and I just LOVE the way she draws all the HP characters. You can see the twinkle in her characters' eyes--just amazing!

Her Thestral is a rather haunting image, and not her typical style. Very evocative!

This image of Lily & James is my favourite of hers in the Gallery. Just perfect!

My favourite artist is Makani! Not only does she have amazing talent, she has a great sense of humor! Some of her best work is simple doodles because they are so hilarious! I love the way she describes her art, too.

"Karkaroff being all like "omg Snape the freaking Dark Mark iz back!" and Snape blasts some necking kids in the bushes."

How can you NOT crack up reading that?

I just love the closeness of the Weasley family which is so evident in that picture. I'm amazed that emotion can be captured in a drawing- takes some major talent to do so. It's the kind of picture that if something happens to them in hte next book will make me cry terribly.

I love mudblood428's drawings, they are very well done!

Caladan is just amazing. This picture is the desktop wallpaper of my computer, at work (my colleagues think I'm crazy anyway, so...).

I second this about makani. When I first stumbled on her website, I was up all night, clicking on every picture, in absolute hysterics.

I love makani and marta (artdungeon).
Makani has such a wonderful sense of humor in her drawing (and a new layout on her site-- cool!) I love the one entitled Andromeda's Revenge-- it's so awesome!
And Marta-- I know they're sketches, but that's exactly how I picture just about all of the characters-- and I love the Sunlit Days Sequence 2!!!

Makani, all the way! She's the best and the things she can do are amazing.

It's like a landslide...but yeah Makani is probably my favorite HP artist. given the opportunity I would love to see the American books
given another printing with her work inside. No offense to Pre, but I prefer Makani's work to the actual printed book's works.

Wow, thanks for providing this link! You're right; some of these pics are fantastic. The "Weasley is my King" one with Ron all depressed after losing the quidditch match is so sad.
This artist also does a really interesting portrayal of Ginny (there's a pic with Ginny in the library and Malfoy looking all smug because of Marietta's betrayal.) A lot of fan-artists seem to make Ginny ridiculously beautiful, but I think that this Ginny is wonderful, complete with freckles and everything!

Caladan and mudblood482 are brilliant too. It seems like some fan-art is superior to the real covers...


ETA: Wow! I've just gone to look at the Leaky Fan-Art galleries and I found some beautiful work by VoldiePoo. It's amazing how many talented artists there are in the HP fan community.

Wow, thanks for posting ErinRae, I haven't checked out the fan art for a while, and there some amazing stuff there. I love Anguinea's death eaters as well, so much more like deatheaters than those silly ones in the GOF movie.

I don't really have one single favourite fanartist. I really like Marta's R/Hr illustrations and Makani's works always crack me up! I love her sense of humour.

One of my favourite Makani-pics is this illustration of Spinner's End. Bella looks just how I imagined her.

I love Marta, Makani, and especially reallycorking's picture of Harry and Ginny dancing. That picture is now my desktop wallpaper! All of these pics are spectactular and I want to print out all of them! Keep up the good work everyone

Caladan has really great designs. I love the detail on the clothes, the hair and the colours in those pictures. Wish I looked like that. *sigh*

Makani is definitely one of my favs. She and Tealin (http://tearain.tripod.com/hp/index.html) are my heroes. xD

I agree Tom Scribble . I'm slowly working my way through these fantastic artists and many are outstanding, but caladan is top of my list at the moment. Her album can be found here. The Padfoot and Lupin at Halloween art takes my breath away.

Mudblood428, caladan, and Makani are three of my favorite fanartists. I love there stuff so much I have made many fan art icons from them, because they inspire me in so many ways. Thanks to Leaky's Fan Art Galleries however I have been able to find many more new artists, hopefully some of them will let me use their work in icons!

Of course Makani, Caladan, Tom Scribble, Mudblood428? Some number like that. Most of the artists are great and show lots of skills.

My favorite fanartist is without a doubt risorius. Her art just blows me away everytime that I look at it. Amazing!

I like Caladan's art. The rendering and costumes are mind blowing. I like Jenny Dolfen's because her art has a marvelous watercolour realism and colour. And Mudblood and ReallyCorking for their scenes and emotions they protray in their art.

I love Makani's art! She is amazing.

While I do agree that we have MORE amaging artists than I can count... all together "Anguenia Rocks!" and Makani Rules and Caladan, ....... what I want to hear is why do love them?

As MelissaTLC noted, Laura Freeman (aka Nasubionna) is a legend in the HP FanArt community. Some of her work is now in TLC's FanArt Gallery. Like many others have mentioned, her HP art was some of the first really good fanart out there. She remains a favourite to this day.

Her drawing of the Unbreakable vow between Narcissa and Snape has been my wallpaper for quite a while and now I've got her Bellatrix Duelling image for wallpaper.

My favourite fan artist (though I haven't seen all the ones listed so far) is Caladan: her work is just gorgeous. She manages to capture scenes and expressions, rather than just physical appearance.. and there's so much detail and depth in the pieces. They just blow me away!

Marta on artdungeon is probably my favourite, because she's the one I've been following for the longest and I imagined a lot of the characters, castle and other locations to look similar to how she's portrayed them; I especially like her drawing of Sirius going through the veil, Bellatrix is exactly as I imagined.

The other one I particularly like is caladan, and I'd just found those pictures yesterday and came rushing to this forum to tell everybody, when I saw the featured artist for March

Marta was also the first fan artist I came across, and that is part of the reason that she is one of my favorite fan artists. Also because she was one of the first fan artists I ran across her characters are often the ones I see in my head when I am reading the stories. I LOVE her Ginny.

I don't have one favourite fan artist, there are way too many to choose from! But some of my favourites are...

Makani: Who doesn't love her art? It's hilarious and the facial expressions are amazing.

Caladan: The colours she uses are so rich. I think my favourite pictures are the ones of Dumbledore and Fawkes.

Leela Starsky: The art is just realistic and very detailed.

Marta: Her art is very realistic... Lovely!

I also love Hito's art, glockgal's art, mudblood428, reallycorking, Tom Scribble, and VoldiePoo's art. So many great artists!!!

My favorite pics are of Lucius Malfoy. ( Can't get enough of that long-haired, well-groomed, arrogant man!)

Some of my favs are done by Makani. Esp. her non-cannon pics. She has a interesting insight on how the Malfoys might be at home.

I really love mudblood428's artwork. I always have a different picture of theirs as my wallpaper. I think it's beautiful. Makani is also really good too, I especially love her unbreakable vow picture.
