On artwork that has more than three comments, 2 out of 3 times I was not able to read the other comments - clicking on "read more" had no effect. (on Safari 2.0.4)
ETA Ditto on Firefox 1.5.0.9
Also, in Safari the login button only says "logi" instead of "login". And when you login, you have to refresh the page an additional time in order to be able to add a comment.

Val_Halla,
The having to refresh the page in order to add a comment after logging in is a known issue that will be fixed in version 2.0.
The problem with Safari is that it overrides the button design that we put into the galleries and uses it's own design. That is why there is a problem. I have however added it to the list of things to fix.
The viewing more comments problem will also be looked into asap.

Just thought you should know that when changing avatars, the new one doesn't show up (on either the upload page or my profile) unless I logout and back in again. Probably other folks could see the new one, but I couldn't. I was loading the pictures from a URL, using IE 6.
Just a minor glitch!

First let me say thank you for creating this fan art gallery, I
LOVE it!
...But today I encountered kinda a large problem. I tried to upload
this image, but I think my internet connection went out for a second, and for some reason 2 corrupt copies of the image uploaded, and this is preventing me from the "Manage my Pictures" and "View my Profile" option, I just get a page that says
"Application error (Rails)".
Please excuse the "test image- don't click" picture that I uploaded, I thought that would let me view the other pictures that I uploaded, but it unfortunately didn't.
I'm not sure if this problem is just temporary, but because there are two corrupt images in the gallery, and no one(?) is able to view my profile, I would be very greatful it you could sort it all out, as I am able to do almost nothing right now.
P.S. On a similar note, I see that there's a rule about how you must "Upload only your own work", but is is still OK that I'm uploading Mary Grandpre's chapter pictures that *I* colored in, enlarged, and added digital affects, as long as I'm giving her
clear and
explicit credit?
Thanks for you time and help!

Hi Magical Me,
Alex our bugs master is checking in Daily to help with any problems.
As for your excellent question the
Fan Art Gallery FAQ states:
</h2>QUOTE
<h2>What do you consider fan art?
Drawings and imagery related to the Harry Potter world that you have had a hand in creating or modifying is considered fan art. Digital work combining different pieces of movie imagery is fan art; a promo picture of Dan Radcliffe uploaded to your account is not. A drawing that copies that photo, but nonetheless came from your own hand, may still be considered fan art. In short, fan art is a visual representation of Harry Potter that you have created.
So yes, your coloured images are fine as long as you give Mary Grand Pre credit as well.
Happy Creating!

Thanks ErinRae for your speedy response! I'm very glad that you're letting me upload them as long as I give credit. Usually I
abhor people messing with and sort of media (cropping, shrinking, compressing, etc.), but I was just really bored last summer, and I just thought Mary Grandpre's charcoal drawings were so beautiful, I wanted to
enhance them by coloring them in and adding a neat digital effect. It took longer than you think, and again, I'm very glad that you're allowing me to upload them.
Also, good luck with that annoying technical bug! I think if you make it so that if an image is cut off before it can upload 100%, the incomplete file should simply be deleted, the user gets an 'connection error' message, and is kindly asked to upload it again if/when their connection is stable.
Cheers!

More problems with viewing comments. I was looking at a picture by Mudblood428 called "And So Do I" with 7 comments. When I clicked on "Read More" this is what displayed:
screenshot #1When I clicked on the TLC wallpaper at the side it improved to look like this:
screenshot #2If I scrolled down, I was able to see all 7 comments in the proper place. When I scrolled back up, the top of the page looked the way it was supposed to look. I tried it twice and got the same results each time.
I then looked at another picture by Mudblood428 called "Seeker No More" (which has 6 comments). When I clicked "Read More" the DH banner overlapped the comments.
screenshot #3I was not logged in at the time of these incidents. After logging in I tried both pictures again and when I clicked "Read More" it showed no comments at all, the comment area just collapsed completely.
My browser is Safari 2.0.4

Couple things I'm particularly curious about.
1)Is it possible to login and stay logged into the gallery site so that we don't have to log in every time we visit?
2)When viewing my own gallery, is it possible to view the rating on each piece?
Thank you so much.

This is happening to me as well. Only with some artists and only sometimes but it is quite annoying!
I am also unable to use the 'read more comments' feature. It will show about 3 comments for each picture and then say click to read more comments. I do this and nothing happens.
Thanks for creating such a fabulous new gallery!

I have had no problems so far, but I do have two suggestions (as if you don't have enough on your hands already).
1. I love art, though I don't produce fan art. I would love to be able to tag "favorites" in people's albums so I can access those images easily, or at least be able to tag "favorite artists".
2. when browsing through an artist's album, it would be very helpful to just push the "next" button without having to go back to the album to switch to the next picture.

OK here are my response to all of the problems so far:
- Hagiographer13 I get the Application error-Rails when I try to go to the next page of an artist/alphabet index--i.e. 2 pages of artists for A-E, click on page 2 pulls up the Rails error.
This error should be fixed now.
- AmericanNinjaX Is it possible to login and stay logged into the gallery site so that we don't have to log in every time we visit?
This is something that will be introduced in version 2.0 and will utilize the browser's cookie system.
- AmericanNinjaX When viewing my own gallery, is it possible to view the rating on each piece?
If you are talking about the "Manage My Pictures" page then yes, it is possible for us to add that feature to the page. I will add it to our list of additions for version 2.0.
- Madsdagirl I am also unable to use the 'read more comments' feature. It will show about 3 comments for each picture and then say click to read more comments. I do this and nothing happens.
This function should be fixed now. I updated that whole section a yesterday with some new functions and cleaner code than it was before.
- Freckles I just went to add a picture and it appeared as one of those annoying red crosses. And then when I went to change it and upload it again, I got the Application Error - Rails message. Eck!
Freckles, your profile should now be working fine for you. I removed that faulty image. Hopefully you should be able to successfully upload it again.
- Muggleborn1184 I love art, though I don't produce fan art. I would love to be able to tag "favorites" in people's albums so I can access those images easily, or at least be able to tag "favorite artists".
If we do favorite artists and pictures, the function will be released in version 2.0 of these galleries.
- Muggleborn1184 When browsing through an artist's album, it would be very helpful to just push the "next" button without having to go back to the album to switch to the next picture.
This is a bug in the current system and will be fixed as soon as possible. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Yipes! I just discovered this and thought you should know...
I came back to my computer after I had been signed in at the gallery earlier, opened my browser, went to the gallery home page and saw on the left hand side that it was all "welcome back, silverglass19!" which I thought was weird bc normally I have to sign in again after I've closed the window. But anyway, I went to go browsing, and when clicked one of the pics on the home page to look at it more closely, the little notice on the side of the screen changed to say welcome back to the person whose page I was viewing! I tried some of the links, and fortunately "manage my pics" took me to my OWN pictures, but the "view my profile" link took me to the profile of the person whose image I was viewing. (I really hope that made sense).
Now I don't know if this is a big deal or not, but I just thought you should know, in case it is.
Many thanks! I adore this gallery!

I had a problem similar to silverglass's as well. Furthermore, even though I logout, whenever I click on 'home' or open the page after having logged out last time, I'm always welcomed back as Tom Scribble. In other words, it's not really logging me out.
Also, the 'recent comments' haven't changed. Just now, it wouldn't let me comment although I am logged in. Perhaps more people are having this problem?

I, too, can't comment on any artwork - not even my own.

I wasn't sure if I should post this in the Help Thread or not because it's not really something that needs to be helped. I actually have a suggestion. There's the comment options for the pictures, but I was wondering if there would be a comment option for the artist in general. There are comments that I'd like to give some fanartists that don't pertain to one specific picture but rather the artist as a whole. This also allows for the artist to get more feedback about their art as a whole, rather than one picture at a time.

Is there a limit to the file size for fanart? I've got a fairly large image (1.8mb) that really can't be scaled down anymore, and I've never seen anything as big as my piece, although I've seen 1 or 2 that are a good size. Its not a big deal since I've got a sample of it already uploaded and a note saying where to see the whole piece, but if possible it would be nice to be able to put the whole thing up here, too.
Also is there a reason why my forum posts aren't listing me as a "fanartist in the leaky galleries". I've checked the box for that in my gallery settings. And I don't know if this has anything to do with that, but I have to sign in separately to the leaky lounge, even if I'm already signed in to the fanart gallery. That might be normal, I don't know.
Thanks.

Hi. I was wondering how come I could at first see the votes already given to pics when I watched them, and now I can't any longer. Moreover, isn't there the possibility for artists to see votes given and, above all, not to be forced to vote themselves in order to see votes? Thank you

There shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't mind waiting for a little longer for the image to upload. I can't wait to see whe you've got for us MartinTenbones!
