I'm starting this thread specifically for any questions, queries or technical problems that members viewing the Gallery need help with.

So, for example, if you want help finding a particular image then ask here. If you want to know more details about a particular image, then ask here and if you come across any pesky bugs in the Gallery, then post it here.

One little problem that has been pointed out to me this morning is the fact that whilst Alan Rickman is listed in the HP Cast category now, none of the pictures are showing. This is the same for David Thewlis and I have notified our tekkie guru Alex about this. Hopefully all you AR fans will have your pictures up soon.

A little comment on that: We've been doing some restructuring and preparing some categories for their content - the ones that are empty shall soon be filled!

Just a quick update on a pesky bug in this forum. All of the polls have gone a bit mental in the conversion. The hard-working tekkies will have them sorted out as soon as possible, but each one needs to be done individually. So for the time being, the polls for book covers, your favourite Dumbledore and film posters are not working.

All the discussion threads are fine though and new polls set up in this forum will be fine, so stay tuned for the March avatar tagline poll coming in the next couple of days. Professor Severus Snape is about to be tagged !!

I have been having problems viewing the galleries ever since Fiddy Five went online. (I have a Mac and I use Safari v2.0.3)

Is this a problem that is still under repair?

An example of one problem: In the thread for pictures from OotP there is a link to the gallery. I click this link and get a page with no content - just the brown background and disclaimer. A few minutes later I tried again, but this time the link seems to work. I see 4 small pictures of Hagrid's hut under construction. I click the first one. It displays fine. I click next. The 2nd one displays fine, but the next one does not come up - just the brown background.

This happens every time I try to use the galleries. Sometimes the links work, other times I see just brown background, not even boxes with "?" in them. Very frustrating.

I have gone through this entire forum since the conversion and all links work. When you click on a link it will take you to the Leaky main news page, and then approximately 5 seconds later, it will take you to the relevant gallery.

Your links obviously aren't working and so I have forwarded your query regarding the compatibility of the Galleries and Mac/Safari v2.0.3 to AlexTLC. I'll ask him to report back in here in case anyone else is having the same problem.

Lastly, you're correct in that the Jason Isaacs gallery also joins Alan Rickman and David Thewlis in having no pictures...yet. They are coming , you'll be able to hear Sue squeeee when they are up!!

In response to the compatibility of the Gallery w/ Safari and any other Mac browsers, we hear your cries. We have been having this issue since the galleries and Leaky 5 opened in February and are still working towards a fix. As of now, the best way to browse the galleries is on Firefox 1.5 or Internet Explorer (yes, I know, scary who IE works better than a Mac) on a PC. Firefox on a Mac does work relatively well but there are still problems. Safari has many issues which we are still trying to iron out.

I have a quastion. Coul you tell me why, (and if its alright) there's a "warning" under my location everytime i post something?
It just says warning, and then a few small blocks, and i don't knoiw what it means... I'd be very thankfull if anyone could help me here....

I have found another problem in viewing the Galleries that doesn't seem to be related to my browser. I was trying to view screen caps from SS (under this heading)



I got a page of 32 thumbnails and an indication at the bottom that there were 82 more pages of thumbnails. I clicked on next, but instead of seeing the next 32 thumbnails, the thumbnails shifted position by one. In other words, the top left photo was replaced by the one to its right and so on down the page with a new thumbnail appearing only in the last position.

Several hits on the next button got the same results.

I tried another gallery (one with more than 32 pics) and another browser - same results.

From my programming days of long ago I'd guess this is an indexing problem - adding 1 to an index instead of 32.

I went and checked and you're right Val_Halla. Thanks for bringing that to our attention .

I have informed our tekkie Alex and so hopefully all will be fixed soon.

Everything is all fixed guys. We had forgotton a multiplication variable for the paging system. Should be working fine now guys. Thanks for letting us know!

I am not certain this is the right place... but since it refers to graphics on TLC...

NickTLC posted a link in the Avatar thread in Nerd's Corner to an avatar Gallery on TLC. When I click that link a new window opens. It seems to take me to the front page of TLC while it is still loading things. According to the info bar at the bottom of my browser window all sorts of objects are being opened... And then! When that info switches to "Done" the content in the window just vanishes and is replaced by the brown background!!! I use IE v 5.50.

After trying it out in both Firefox (v1.5.0.1) and Internet Explorer (v6.0) I haven't been able to replicate the problem. When I head to school tomorrow I shall try it on their computers as they use Internet Explorer (v5.50).

I have the same problem, but not just with the galleries (though it happens most often in the galleries). This problem has also occurred when attempting to view Scribbulus and individual essays as well. I'm glad to hear you're working on it, and am anxiously looking forward to when it's fixed. (I've been trying to view pix in the galleries and being required to constantly navigate back to where I left off is absolutely maddening!)

The best way of sending in images to the Leaky Galleries is to use the email form on the main Gallery front page here.

You'll find it highlighted in red on the right side, just under the recently uploaded images.

Please be patient if you don't see your images straight away. We are extremely grateful for any that members send in and the Image Managers will get around to them as soon as they can .

I was wondering if you had any plans to sort the Movie Galleries into more categories. I'm often searching for a specific image from a movie and it takes quite a while to search through 100+ pages of thumbnails.

Also, if I click on a thumbnail to view the image, when I return to the thumbnails I'm taken back to page 1 again. Then I have to start all over

Is this just me and my computer?

No, this isn't you or your computer , I'm afraid our current Gallery does that when you view thumbnail images in their larger form.

We will have some very exciting news soon about the Gallery and these little problems will be completely rectified, so please bear with us. It will be worth it!

Is there anyway to find the interviews from the latest screenshots in the galleries? I realized that I haven't seen many from the SS/PS era, and I would like to. Will they be posted anywhere else on the site? If not, could you tell me where to find them?

As far as I am aware, the screen captures for the PS/SS movie, found here, are only stills from the movie itself and not from interviews. However, this gallery has 2625 images in it and so I may have missed some!

Here you will find images from press conferences and interviews done for the PS/SS movie though and so they may have what you are looking for. You'll find some lovely images of Richard Harris here.

Love the new Galleries!

Unfortunately, I have already found one teeny tiny problem - well, more of an oddity than a problem.

When you want to see the largest version of a picture, you can click on the picture and another window will open up with the big version. It is doing this, but here is what happens:

A window appears for a split second in the top-left of my screen and the navigation bar indicates it's loading.

Then the window jumps to the middle of my screen and is totally collapsed. In other words, I see only the navigation bar and a left/right scroll bar at the bottom. To see the picture I have to drag the window up and to the left and then drag the bottom right corner down and to the right to expand the window. Weird.

Hmm, works ok for me Val_Halla. What software are you using?

Safari v2.0.3 on a Mac with OSX v 10.4.6. I'm beginning to think TLC's main site just doesn't like Macs. The new galleries do seem to work perfectly otherwise, however, and that is a very welcome improvement.

meera18may, I am unable to say whether we have received your images as they go straight to our Image Manager Mary and she does not come here on the Lounge. However, in my experience, it is taking approximately one month for member submitted images to be uploaded onto our Gallery . Perhaps check back in then and you will hopefully see them. I just tried the same action in the galleries on my Mac and got the same result in Safari. However I've had no problems in Firefox.

I have spoken to Alex our tekkie, and he checked the domain of the video and it appears that this is where the problem is. Whilst other videos are downloading without problem in the Videos Section, this one appears to have gone missing!!

We will try and rectify this problem as soon as possible .

Ive been made aware of some loading problems when searching through the albums on the Gallery. If an album fails to load, but shows as "done" on your browser, try clicking on the refresh button. I find this helps .

In the meantime I'll ask our tekkies to look into this problem.

I'm not sure if this question goes here or in Knockturn Alley...but are the images in the Mary Grand Pre Gallery allowed to be used as avatars? Or can we only use images from the Avatar Gallery? I know they're not the right size, but I was just wondering as I'm going to attempt *gulp* to get myself an avatar.

Any image in the Gallery can be used as an avatar Pleshette. The only thing you have to remember is when you have chosen which image you want you follow the following steps:

* Choose your image and right click and "save image as".

* You then go to a image hosting site, (I use Photobucket), register if you haven't already got an account and then upload the image from your computer to your account there. (Sounds a little complicated but it really is easy once you get used to it).

* Then once you have uploaded your image there, come back to your control panel on the Lounge, and click on "edit avatar settings".

* Copy the URL of the photobucket image and just paste it into the avatar setting that says "Enter a URL to an online avatar image".

* Click on update avatar and there you have it .

Because the avatar images are 100 x 100, then any detailed images, like the Mary GrandPre artwork, will be condensed and some of the detail lost. I'll have a look through the Gallery though and see if I can find some that may be more suitable for avatars for you .

I have a suggestion and I'm not sure if this is really the proper place for it but here goes.

I was looking at avatars from GoF and there are quite a lot of them. Many of the avatars feature one particular character. It would be nice if they were further subdivided into a category for each main character plus a category for "other/multiple characters".

I've just notest that there are two photo shoots of Natalia Tena in the Michael Gambon "Studio and Posed Shots" section.
And also, just out of curiosity, I want to ask why do the Actors > Events > 2005 and 2002 and the David Tennant, Fiona Shaw, Pam Ferris, Robert Hardy, Tolga Safer etc. Appearances sections exist if they are empty? Are those pages under construction?

I can see the thumbnail images but nothing appears when I click to enlarge - this has also been passed onto the tekkies for their attention .

In your section of the gallery concerning book art would you be able to get a picture of the cover of Harry Potter agus an Órchloch, the Irish version of the book. The cover is the same picture as the UK childrens version (Harry looking puzzled at the Hogwarts express) except the sign on the train now reads TRAEIN LUAIS HOGWARTS and the translator is credited at the bottom.Here is a link to a picture of it I found on the net.
