As filming has now begun for the sixth film,
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, images taken by fans and paparazzi and such will start to be available.

We have some early images from filming in Lacock, as noted on
Leaky Main. No--it is NOT Hagrid's Hut!

Here in the Galleries
Additional filming is slated to be taking place shortly in Gloucester Cathedral, and as soon as we have more images we will post them up!

This could be the night time scenes of Spinners End - narrow old streets

Oct 23 2007, 03:44 PM
Spinners End is definitely one possibility,
mad-eye-melly! However, as mentioned on
Leaky Main, TLC reader Andrew noticed that the street in that picture is the same street that was used for the filming of the flashback to the Potters' house in Godric's Hollow for the Sorcerer's/Philosophers' Stone movie. I'm not sure where that would fit into this movie. The winding, cobbled, narrow streets do definitely lend themselves to a Spinners End-esque scene, though!

That white building sticking out looks interesting. Reminds me of The 3 Broomsticks. Perhaps this is Hogsmeade prior to apparition to The Cave.

You know as excited as I want to be over ANY pics of the HBP movie, I can't. Its nice to see what locations we'll get glimpses at in the film, but it doesn't compare to actually seeing the actors there on set, or even better, on the film stills WB and others manage to wow us with...I know we still have a long way to go before that happens, but I'm so tired of not seeing anything new! I should be 'relaxing' from HP due to the madness of this past summer, and I have, which is why I feel the need to get back on the HP 'scene' and that usually, for the most part, involves me going crazy over new images or casting news.

There are now many more images up from the HBP filming in Lacock, England, as mentioned on
Leaky Main. It seems most likely that they are filming exteriors of Budleigh Babberton, and
Horace Slughorn's temporary refuge there --

Here in the Galleries
Most fascinating to me is mention of prop boxes and set pieces marked CEMETARY, such as this one --

I am thinking this is mostly atmospheric.

Or, possibly that this may be a recreation of Little Hangleton for the pensieve scene with the Gaunts, which would be awesome indeed.

ETA: Additional information from the filming confirms that it is indeed Sluggy's "home" and that the "graveyard" items were for a War Memorial that is being erected on the set--which is totally
canon! YES!

From all these reports of filming in Wiltshire, it looks to me as if WB is consolidating all the filming from the village scenes in HBP, like Budleigh Babberton, Little Hangleton (Gaunt house), and Spinner's End. They might be using different parts of Lacock for each bit, so as not to overlap. I guess it saves both money and time.
Its great that the residents of Lacock are alllowing WB to use their village for HP. Its a very beautiful village.

More pictures from the HBP filming in Lacock have been added to the Galleries! As reported on
Leaky Main Michael Gambon and
Dan Radcliffe were there filming the exterior scenes for Buddleigh Babberton and Harry and Dumbledore's meeting with Horace Slughorn.

I really like the detail that goes into these films, even if it's little bits that go by so fast we don't even notice. Such a bit of obsessive detail is this pub sign for the "Babberton Arms" --

You can find all the images from the Lacock filming, including pictures of Gambon signing autographs,
here in the massive TLC Galleries.

You
knew it was coming . . . new pix of
Hagrid's hut, HBP-style have appeared online.
As mentioned on
Leaky Main the fifth incarnation (there was no HH for GoF

) is being built at Leavesden Studios, and you can see picture of it, plus more from the filming in Lacock,

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! I've been devouring all these pics! It just makes me so happy to see that they put a war memorial in the square! How cool is that!!!???
Ahhhh Hagrid's Hut, how nice it is to see you again. That house is like Fawkes, being repeatedly reduced to nothing and then reappearing.........and in this one it gets to be on fire

................ok so maybe I am a little
over excited!

LoL that's funny
John-Robert, I never pictured the house as too small. If there's one thing Slughorn likes, it's comfort. Didn't surprise me at all to see him settle in as fancy a house as he could.

As mentioned on
TLC Main there will be a couple sneak-peeks for HBP on the
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD, due out in the UK today. A screen-grab of that menu is
here in the Galleries --

With a little closer look via Photoshop, the embedded HBP images are --

The first appears to be perhaps in Slughorn's appropriated home in Budleigh Babberton (since we know they have already filmed some of that footage) whereas the second, to me, would most likely be Mrs. Cole's office (with the typewriter in the background), at the Orphanage.
Whoa!

SQ--UEE!!!!!!!!!! As tiny as they are, with no actual footage to see yet, these pics are very exciting!
I agree with
Hagiographer13, the second one looks like the orphanage to me. The first one I thought may have been DD's office but I think she is correct it is more likely Slughorn's "home". Harry looks to have on a jacket like the one he wore for filming that scene. Sweet!!! It's just so exciting to see images emerge, still can't believe we have a year to wait!
Hagiographer13
Nov 13 2007, 12:03 AM
I had a chance to take a look at these extras on YouTube before they were removed, and the second bit is definitely in the orphanage. They interview the production designer,
Stuart Craig about this set--and he says the main gate to the orphanage is his homage to David Lean's film of Dickens'
Oliver Twist. The first could be in Dumbledore's office OR Sluggy's--it goes by way too quickly to be absolutely sure.

There are also snippets of what appears to be the cave scene and Harry talking with Arthur Weasley in his workshed. Also, unless it gets cut, it looks like we will have Quidditch back in HBP, as the bulk of the first short clip is interviewing the costume designer,
Jany Temime, while she rhapsodizes about the "new" Quidditch robes.

Again--I am very hopeful and excited for the sixth film! OotP was amazing--and this looks even better!

The stuff about Quidditch being back makes my day! I've missed it, and it should be really great this year with Harry as captain and Ron as Keeper, and Ginny on the team, and McLaggen being an idiot and cracking Harry's skull while Ron's in the hospital and....YES!!...Luna as commentator! I'm getting more excited by the moment thinking about this new revelation and
all the stuff that potentially goes along with it!
HBP comes out the day after my birthday next year, and I'm already thrilled for that birthday gift!

Hm I dunno hagiographer, in the sneak peek (downloaded it on my computer) it actually shows that 2nd picture is in Arthur Weasley's shed where he keeps all his electronics! There are stacks of computers, a motorcycle, and tons of other stuff.
The first shot is definitley Dumbledore's office. There's also a bit where they're looking through the pensieve in the Gryffindor dorms, wierd!
LOVE the uniforms! Bit better than PoA but still not as good as CS and PS.

I don't like the Quidditch uniforms...it is supposed to be a rough game for goodness sake!

Only muggles wear protection!
Plus, and I hope no offense is taken by the North American fellows, those pads make everything look more American and less British.
I really really hope they don't make HBP into a sappy teen movie (which, could happen judging by Emma's interview).

You are right,
Fawcett--I checked my downloaded version of the Sneak, where I could pause it properly, and that typewriter is in Arthur's workshed. Really wonder what they are discussing there . . .

Also--I kind of like the Quidditch armour--maybe because I have been playing the HP video games and they include that stuff. Also, Ms. Temime's rationale for the armour is sound--now that the players are older, they are more likely to be playing rougher. Also, fyi, US footballers used to wear their padding OVER their jerseys. My 2 knuts of useless info for the day.

Except strictly speaking the teams aren't getting older, they always had the best players in the house on them, regardless of age. Though of course it does mean we get Quidditch or at least Quidditch training in this movie which I am sure many fans will like.
In the lead up to these clips, I think we have shots of Arthur's shed - though it is an interesting question as to what they are talking about, unless they have relocated Harry reporting back on Draco's detour there. We have Dumbledore's office, shots from the cave, and I think a brief shot of the Room of Requirements in "junk room" mode.

No the teams aren't getting older,
roonwit, which is what I meant with the very next sentence after what you quoted. But since the movies are even more Harry-centric than the books are, it makes sense that they would go ahead and work within his Quidditch career. I just meant that I appreciated the costumer having some sort of rationale for the re-design. It shows she has put some thought into it and if she is willing to put out the effort I am open-minded enough to go with it.

I'm scared that I'll be invaded by Tonks' avatars if WB gives her anymore screentime. Just Kiddin. Natalia is cool.

I wonder when we're going to see our next HBP Sneak Peak Stuff... Hey now! Tonks NEEDS more screen-time. Yes, of course you'll be bombarded with icons, cuz that's just how I roll! lol! But seriously, we do need to see her more, I need more footage for vids.
And I really hope we don't get a Sneak Peaks like we did with OotP, it was too much, IMO. Hopefully they'll keep us in the dark more this time around, we'll be more excited when the movie finally comes to the theaters .... One image that just kind of jumped-out at me from the sneak-peek was this one --

I am fairly sure that Scrimgeour and the ministry (and Percy, sadly) have been axed from HBP, so do you suppose that David Yates is going to go for another "newspaper montage" sort of thing?

I thought that was rather effective and very well-done in OotP, and with that headline from the
Daily Prophet that's the first notion that hit me.
John-Robert
Dec 29 2007, 09:49 AM
That's a really great comment Hagiographer. I thought the newspapers were effective but they did get a little extreme at the end... maybe one notch from over the top... but that's all in the matter of opinion.
The Daily Prophet that you showed looked as if it was from the Prime Ministers Office, but WB has already said it has been cut, so I guess it would have came from the Gryffindor Common Room, The Burrow, Privet Drive, some cool place.
Or, it could have just been sitting in the props department.
It also made me look at it because if it's a prop they are using in the movie (which it looks like), nothing is moving because there is no blue screen inside of it pasted where the moving images would be animated in.
If it is a still from the movie, and it's already been animated, Good Job WB, you've gotten far!

*deep breath* Okay, the Draco and Harry on the Hogwarts Express looks very promising. I really hope they leave the dreaded face-stomping incident in because it shows what level the whole Harry vs Draco thing has risen to. It's not just name-calling anymore.
I liked the newspaper montages in OotP so if that is the case with this I'm a happy camper.

I'd imagine since the other minister has been (allegedly) cut that we'd see this paper pretty early on in the film to establish the choas that the Death Eaters/Voldemort have been causing. And the "Harry Potter The Chosen One" headline to set up that the wizarding community is now looking to Harry as a figure of hope (nice contrast from OotP).
Can they not find some new robes for Dumbledore?! It's nice to see the green hand they've been talking about on Pottercast.

I have pondered the kiss alot, and part of me wonders if this is the scene where Harry and Ginny break up. In the sneak peek they are really close and then the next shot is her walking away from him, and Harry doesn't look too happy. Of course they wouldn't show the kiss on a sneak peek, but what if there isn't one in this scene? What if it's just an almost-kiss before Ginny leaves and Harry moves on to Horcrux hunting? hmm idk. When I first saw this scene I didn't think it was a kiss, I think it might have just been a close encounter, maybe even a dream of Harry's (it'd be funny if Ron popped out of nowhere in one of Harry's dreams, are you listening WB?).
As for thinking that it was the, well I'll dubb it the "Good Bye kiss", I just don't get that feeling. It would be nice if they kept the ending of the movie in tune with the ending of HBP (the funeral and Hermione & Ron telling Harry that they'd follow him no matter what happens
