Mixing up a plan for a presentation? Need a collaborator? Have a particular kind of programming you'd like to see? Here's where you can get a running start and dive into the presentation portion of the event. We'll have three levels of programming available:

1) Informal
2) Formal
3) Youth

Calls for proposals are coming later in the year, so be on the lookout for your opportunity to be a part of this amazing event!

Just thinking that they're should be some good house pride programming. It'd be nice to have strong programming involving the cannon houses. At past conventions the Hufflepuffs always have their parade, but I would like it to get even more crazy than that (in a good way) and with all four of the houses.

I'd LOVE to see a Wizard Pride Parade in downtown Boston...but I'm not sure we could pull that off. HAHA, can you imagine?! Wizards on parade. I'm not sure Boston's ready for something like that! hahaha.

Great suggestion, 89ravenclaw. We will certainly keep that in mind! Thank you!

I can only imagine all of the pictures that will be taken at LeakyCon in general... IT WILL BE MADNESS!!! (but the totally good/awesome kind)

House pride will most definitely be in the equation though.... wink.gif

I knew after I typed it that it was a "Duh!" that all sorts of pictures and youtube videos will be taken regardless.
May have to make custom robes or somesuch for GryffinPuff colors... Black and Gold, hmmm, that was actually my High School colors...

Would there be any interest in a wizarding tour of MIT? I am an alum and I would love to organize it. It would include all the standard campus tour components, mixed in with some Harry Potter themed fun. In the past MIT students have been very into the release of potter books and movies "hacking" (pulling pranks) on campus to commemorate these events.

This past summer for the release of DH the dark mark appeared on campus

Dark Mark On W20

As well as a place for parking your broomstick.

Broomstick Parking in Building 32

We also live in dormitories according to personalities, much like the students at Hogwartz.

I think the parade idea sounds amazing. Let's see if we can make it bigger than the St. Patrick's Day one!

If you don't think Boston sees stranger everyday you'd be wrong. I have pictures of people in duck costumes celebrating a birthday on the common. Wizards would hardly get a glance, maybe we can get some of the duck boats and pull a Championship parade style?

I concur. A band of wizards and witches won't make the citizens of Boston bat an eyelash. It would be cool to do something with the duck boats, if nothing else but for the fact that people could make it a joint parade/sightseeing event.

I was thinking that it might be cool to have a screening of the We Are Wizards documentary that Melissa's featured in. I saw it a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing! I don't know if it will have had a wider release by the time LeakyCon arrives, but if not, it would be a great opportunity for people who haven't been able to catch it!
GreenLightening
I think it would be nice to have some sort of public service event offered for fans who want to participate. Maybe it would be the day before or after the conference so as not to interfere, but I know that in New Orleans a lot of people volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, and I was thinking we could do something similar. Maybe our volunteering this time could focus on literacy, as a lot of children in the rougher parts of the Boston metro area aren't reading anywhere near grade level. Maybe we could disperse to different schools and spark interest in reading for children with none other than Harry Potter.
slythphoenix116
That's a brilliant idea. I would love to be involved in that, if we could get something organized.
Questauthor
I am so impressed with the fantastic ideas you guys are coming up with! Our Programming Chairs are making their lists and checking them twice with all this input! Keep it up... we have loads to do!

I was talking to Edward the other night about maybe there being something along the lines of the parenting displayed in the Potter books. I don't know if it's a good idea or not, and it's not something I could actually do, but I'd love to attend something of that nature.

The organisation would take some work, but I think it's definitely doable. MIT does lots of programs like this, some where the students actually come to the campus but others where volunteers disperse themselves among the local schools. I just looked at Cambridge Public Schools website and they will be in session until June 18th this year, so Boston area schools will definitely still be in full swing in the days leading up to LeakyCon. I don't know if things like a background check are required prior to volunteering though, that could be problematic if most ppl will only be arriving the night before.

This is an excellent idea, Bookworm Jen! The DRAGONs team is already working on some regular HP screenings ideas (with some twists) and this would be a great one to add to the batch! Thanks for your suggestion! smile.gif

Brilliant! I know that those who attended the Habitat for Humanity project in New Orleans for Phoenix Rising were very pleased that they did so--it sounds like an excellent tradition to continue... smile.gif Again, I will pass it along to my Lady DRAGONs. Thanks, GreenLightening!

Kel, this sounds like something that the Academic Programming might want to pick up. Fantastic idea! Especially today being Mother's Day, we all are aware of the fine parenting skills in the books and the focus on it!

I'm so impressed with all of your suggestions!! smile.gif Thanks for all of your ideas guys, and I promise that we're working hard to make this an awesome conference for you... HORRAY! ^_^

Since it's so close to the anniversary of the battle, maybe we should have midnight candelit vigil for all of the characters who died in the books.

My sister MagicDucks has just told me that I have to go dressed as a badger and be the Hufflepuff mascot because of my screen name. tongue.gif

don't know if this has been thrown out there but i would love to have an open mic type thing, perhaps "Harry Potter Idol" where people could get up on stage and sing their original wizard wrock songs, and maybe leaky could get some of our fave wizard wrockers to judge, a la simon, paula and randy. it would be a great opportunity for people who love to play the wrock, but dont have the time, energy, or opportunity to release a whole album. or maybe, like me, theyve only written a couple good ones!

what do you guys think?
Poufsouffle
That sounds really cool because I have a band but no time! lol.gif
MagicDucks
That's a great idea!

Dementors in an Alley aka The Disorder of the Phoenix could finally take the stage! We'll have to write a couple more songs, PoufSouffle.

Hey lady, the programming is in the fan's hands! The call for proposals will be going out sometime in the forseeable future and we will be open to everything!

In terms of Wizard Rock, I was just at Portus and they had some great performances at the concert and the ball. But one of the things that I most enjoyed was the "unplugged" sessions. There were a whole bunch of Wrock bands that played there for a half hour or an hour, and it was completely acoustic, in a relatively small room and was much more informal and personal. It was really, really great and I would love to see something like that again.

Sorry for the late reply. You are in luck, though. Something like has been in the works for a while. Stay tuned!

There were a couple of sessions like this at Prophecy, too. They weren't really planned, but the Wrockers just decided to play (like The Remus Lupins, in the Common Room). I liked these, too - as you said, much more informal and personal. I'm sure that some of the Wrockers will prob do this at LeakyCon, too!

Loving everyone's ideas so far! Can't wait to see what else you guys come up with smile.gif

The one thing I really enjoyed about Prophecy was the intimate and personal wrock shows. Personally, I think it's actually better, but if I really want to Wrock out, the full fledged band is equally as awesome too. I think that's a good idea to have some at LeakyCon.

I would love to see some sort of dance event. Give everybody a chance to put on those dress robes and dance like a hippogriff! And people are always willing to shell out a few extra bucks for a night of entertainment, so it would be a great way to raise money for a charity.

Can't wait until May!

i like that idea i made a tribute vidieo on you tube.
any way i think we shoud have some type of ball.
Poufsouffle
I've heard that at other HP conventions the people incharged of running it select different people in attendance to be "Bludgers" or "Botherers" if you will. Meaning that they are asked to just run through crowds tapping people on teh shoulder and screaming out either "Bother!" or "Bludger!" and then those people have to do the same ect. I think that it'd be just some silly fun to do that. Sort of like a huge game of "Wizard Tag".

Great Ideas, everyone!!

As for the ball... we're going to be staying at a hotel that has a castle, so... yeah. There will definitely be a ball event. No worries there!!

I know Addie (MadamPenna), who is our Informal Programming Chair and Chief DRAGON wrangler, is working on Quidditch activities. I'll pass the idea along to her!!
