We all love our furry friends as the multiple threads here prove. Whether we refer to them as pets or companion animals, they're part of the family and our everyday life.

What pets do you have right now? Tell us about them. I have kitties and a bunny living with me.

What pets would you like to have? Maybe you'd like a horse but live in an apartment in the city so that's just not practical. Or maybe you'd like a kitty but you do not think that your dog would agree lol

If you could have any companion animal, which would you like and why? Me, I'd like a horse, a donkey and a pony so they'd be good company for each other, and I could ride them when I wanted. A sheep and a cow would be natural lawn mowers and fertilizer producers. And, I adore deer so I'd just love to have one live with me.

What pets do you have right now? My house is basically a zoo. We have so many pets! Well, at my dad's house, I only have two cats and some fish--not a good combination, if you think about it, but it works. One of them, Feisty, is absolutely terrified of people, including me. But the other one, Ebony, is adorable, loving, and so completely sweet At my mom's house I have four cats, a dog, some rats, and a rabbit. One 11 year old cat, one very, very fat orange tabby cat, and two little kittens-brother and sister. Then there's our dog, who I actually really don't like, but well, my mom does. My sister has a few rats (not evil, actually adorable). And, I have a rabbit named NEVILLE. Yay! He's so cute and sweet!

If you could have any companion animal, which would you like and why? I desperately want a horse of my own. I've been riding for about 9 years now, but always have to depend on other people's horses. It would be so nice to just say, hey, I'm going for a ride, I'll be back in an hour at any time of day. I also would really like to have a turtle, simply because they're funny and cute

At my moms house I have 9 cats, and a dog...and we think there's some racoons staying in the garage but we don't talk about them At my dad's we have two dogs. The cats names are *takes a deep breath* Harley, Lily-James, Thackary Binx, Piper, Holly, Julius, Delilah, Charlie, and Mama. The dog's names are Jillie, Mona, and Summer. I, also, desperately want a horse. I've been riding for nearly 10 years and I ride the school horses that they have at the barn. They are wonderful horses and I love them, but I want to have that special bond with one of the horses that my friends have. Oh, and I would like more dogs...especially at my mom's cause Jillie hates me. I want my own dog. Jillie is my mom's.

Currently I have a Dog. She's a 10 month old beagle, and I love her! She's awesome! She's very spastic, hyper, cute, and awesome!!

I would, however, love to have a kitty! They're soo cute, and would be great to cuddle with, much easier than with a dog.

My cats tend to almost smother you...they all try to cuddle at the same time. especially the fat one's. And piper sits on your head...

-a dog, named Kiara, who is my lovable fila. she lives in my grandparents farm as we cant really keep a dog of her size, but since i got there a lot... and she loves to race with me! she always wins tho .
-a goldfish named Fred, who has survived longer then any other fish ive ever had. (i used to have one called Cleo recently, but she died... RIP)
-a bird called Kiko, named by my little cousin lol. who is just a canary but i love him. he chirps a lot.

i really really wish i had:

-a horse!!!!!!!!! i ride, too, since i was 5 years old, but dont have any of my own. i love them tho!!!! it would be so great to have one... i agree with you jaimedanser and phoenix_226!! and people think i would want a pony, but i dont. i dont get along with them very well. they are so stubborn. and the ones ive had experience with def. didnt like me either... i just really prefer horses.

-a kitty, but i am allergic to cats.... and anyway i am a dog person, but i would like a cat too.
-a hamster: same reason as the bunny. my friend's had babies once, she offered me one and i even took it home before my mom freaked out and screamed "get that rat out of the house!!!!!" i gave her the *evil stare of doom* before returning it to my friend. really, call a hamster "rat"?!
-a pig!!!! i love piggies! and baby pigs are the cutest things in the world. but if my mom doesnt let me have a hamster, imagine her letting me have a pig!
-a ferret! i love those!!!!! they are awesome. i have had a virtual one LOOL so i guess that counts as experience as an owner? haha i just think they rock too.

i have two cats right now (i did have 3 but one died a few weeks ago ) angel (my little girl as i call her) is demanding and to smart for her own good and she knows how to get her own way (like last night when she meowed so loud that she got all the nabours dogs barking and wouldnt shut up till we fed her.) and bernie who is nervous and jumps at anything (like right now when i just moved.)

I have two cats, and one dog. The cats are named Peanut and Cali - Peanut is very smart; she can open almost all doors, and can meow so loudly she can always get her way. She also loves teasing the dog by playing in his water bowl while he's watching her (but he doesn't dare do anything about it, 'cause she'll scratch him)
Cali... is very cute, somewhat fat, loves sitting on my lap, but is kinda dumb, and a bit grumpy sometimes.

My dog is named Marco. He's about a year old (we think), and pretty large, but still acts like a puppy. He's a pain sometimes - he'll steal food from the kitchen whenever he can, and he's always chewing things up (like my favorite shoes ) He chases his own tail a lot, which is hilarious, but has yet to learn that if he catches it, he shouldn't try to bite it

I would really like to have a horse, because I love riding (even though I've only done it a couple times), but that's not going to happen for many years, at least. I'd also like more cats, but my parents don't agree!

We have two dogs right now. We had three dogs, but the eldest one passed away 5 days before my father did. We had her cremated, so now she sits on the mantel right next to my dad's ashes.

Anywho...the two we still have...a Cocker Spaniel named Zev(he's a year old). He's a goofy little guy, but very loving and sweet. Then there's the Cockapoo named Mohen(he's 2 1/2 yrs old). He's the "straight guy" between the two of them, whereas Zev is the goofy, comedy guy.

What pet would I like to have? Hmmm...I'd love to have another bird. I had an African Cocketeil(I spelled that so wrong...heh), but he died a few years back...and we can't have birds, since the one housemate is allergic to them. Phooey.

Right now I've got a Shih Tzu mix, she's awesome, but we got her from my aunt and we call it her revenge because she was really naughty as a puppy, her name is Tanette, we also had Shar Pei's for a long time, and a wire-haired terrier mix, but I would like a real gentleman's dog, an Irish Setter, a German Short-haired Pointer, or a German Shepherd(black or white, I don't like the standard).

I chose "other" on the which pets would you like section because I want a Chinchilla too! There's so cute and easy to take care of, when I'm older I'm definetly getting one or even two.

Right now I have a cat named Cookie. My sister named him when she was three for no real reason...he's grey striped so he doesn't look like a cookie or anything. I love my cat. He's really nice and usually calm, but he's also really stupid and lazy.

and I had a cat named Sarabii. My sister named her and we're not entirely sure if it was a boy or girl. It was very cuddly and had a huge burn on its side when we found it. It was superbly cute! And it didn't return one day and we thought it was shot dead by the same neighbor who gave her the burn. I hate those neighbors! So we haven't seen it since...

I want to have a pure white kitty and a fluffy one. Its breed would be an Australian Tiffany. Female, of course.
I want a unicorn too but they're not real so I picked PONY!!! same description as the kitty I want except for breed. I want to it to be a baby, though, since I can't manage big ones.

I have a doggie! His name is Nikko. He's a miniature Schnauser. He has gray hair, and he's like a little brother to me. He bugs me, and I bug him. He's the sweetest dog ever. I love him<3 I want to have a horse cause I love riding horses, (though I'm not like REALLLLYYY good at it.) I just like them.

I have 3 cats. Zippy is a Norweigan Forest Cat who is 17 years old. Sarah is a black short hair who is 5 1/2 years old. Spike is a kind of Tabby Cat/Bengal who is 5 years old. I'd love to get a couple of Hamsters!

my husband and i have 2 cats - duff and plinko.

duff is 2 years old, all black with yellow-green eyes. his favorite past times are looking annoyed, ignoring things, sleeping and enthusiastically chasing after laser pointers.

plinko is not quite a year old yet, she will be in may. she is a tuxedo kitty (black on top with a white tummy), and has the cutest pink nose. she LOVES to cuddle and snuggle no matter what time of the day it is, she loves to lick you, she also chases all laser pointers very enthusiastically as well as twisty-ties (bread-ties)

they are both insanely entertaining!

if i could have any animal it would be a penguin... though i really doubt they'd like the weather here.

I am sorry to say that I did have a dog, a female German Shepherd to be exact but we had to put her down last week. In the course of a week she had gone blind and deaf and didn't really know who we were any more. I spent twenty minutes the night before she was put down dragging her to our house, she had gotten lost. When my mom brought her into the vet they found that she had 3 brain tumors so my mom decided to put her down. She was 10 and a half and she was a beautiful dog. She also was very well behaved and never actually ran into the street. I really do miss her and it brings tears to my eyes reading all your posts. But when I do read them, I think of the good times and thats what really matters.

Hey, I can't believe I found a thread on pets! I love animals!

Currently we have 11 fish (my dad's), two cats (Simba and Joanna), two Cockatiels (Sasha and Rye- both male), a rabbit ( Meirdan- my sister's) and a guinea pig (Bix- mine). We used to have a dog called Nala but we had to put her down a couple of years ago because she got very sick. We used to have a couple of budgies too (Pippin and Mulan) but they died from moving house. Unfortunately none of them have HP names, but i wish some did Maybe when i move out (which will probably a fair way away yet).

I hope I've stayed on topic.

So sorry to hear that H.J. I had a beagle when I was 14 and she has to be put down because of old age. The vet sedate her and she slept on my lap I never had a pet ever since, I still had the trauma of losing a best friend. Further, I did not vote in this poll, I was just saddened by yours, I can't vote coz, as I said I never wanted any pet again. Hope you will recover.

I have 6 pets right now
-Jaxson is my 7 year old lab/border collie mix. I rescued him when he was a year old from a shelter that was caught in a flood.
-Mino is 4 years old, a lab/something mix. He was abused in his first home by the husband and children that owned him. He's still got some baggage from that but he is very happy.
-Domino is my 3 legged kitty that I rescued from the vet clinic I work at
-Rio is my 8 year old bird- she's an Indian Ringneck Parakeet.
-Grover belongs to me and my mom, she's a 7 month old Quaker Parakeet.
-Onyx is my guinea pig, I rescued her while I was going to school.

I'd love to have more birds, I think they are fascinating.

I guess we all like different things, and different furry friends but, I'm wondering who voted tarantula for the pet they would like
I love most every animal, I even rescue bugs but spiders are one thing I've never managed to get to like despite books (and now the movie) of stories like Charlotte's Web where the spider is a true friend. Personally I'm with Ron on this one ...

I don't like Spiders either. Whenever I see one on a wall or something, I get my dad to catch it in a jar. He then takes it outside and lets it go. We have to be careful about Daddy Long-legs though. If those spiders bite a guinea pig or rabbit it could kill them. So we don't trust them much. We tend to get a few Black spiders, Huntsmans/Wall Spiders, other strange looking spiders and sometimes even Red-Backs as well.

I think Birds are quite fascinating too. Any birds that we have had have been quite the characters

When I move out I'd like to get a dog and cat. Hmmm, gotta think about it a bit more though but I have plenty of time really.

We went to the petstore the other day. It was fun. Usually I hate going to the petstore because I think people should rescue their pets. But, I went with my cousins and the puppies were so cute! They were interested in a beagle but there was this Great Pyranese that I loved! I wanted to get it so bad.

I'm one of the two - I'm afraid - who voted for a tarantula. I think it's a very fascinating creature, and I would name it Snape! I've dreamt of one, since I was a child. Spiders keep the mosquito-population down !!! And if you have spiders, there are certain kinds of lice, who are not present - according to my grandfather! - but maybe that's superstition? Like the idea though.

We have a little bunny and a fish-tank:
Currently my daughter and I have a small friendly competition, about whose the bunny is.
She is the most adorable little Lion-head with the official name of Snuske, but she goes by almost any cute sound - incl. "Cuty-pie" - we can find, and after a really bad start on her life, where she was manhandled - cruelly - we rescued her, and she is JUST SO CUTE, and now-a-days very trusting towards us.
It took us 1 year to get to this point with her. She hates cucumber and to jump high on command! She loves to race around in cirkles and make funny small jumps on her own or with my daughter running after her! And she likes to come and lick on my ancle when I least await it.

We have to have her in the garden, because I have allergy towards all kinds of furry animails, but with anti-histamins for me and by keeping her outside, she's the light of our days. She have our whole garden to roam around in, though only when she is monitored by me or my daughter. (there are foxes in the area! - the cats, she chases away, although she only weigh 1,7 kg.!!!). We cuddle her each and every day.

Only my daughter know the names for all the fish (5 Scalares (angelfish), 6 Neon, 12 Lemon-tetra, several algae-eaters and the schrimp, whom I think, has no name)! It's very beautiful to watch and with a (freshwater)tank in balance, it's no work what-so-ever.

Other than the tarantula, I would love to have a snake - a cobra, and I would like to name her MacGonnagal, because both she and such snakes, invoke my respect!
If I had the right conditions for it, I would like a falcon!

But what I miss the most, is having cats and dogs. We once had a totally black siamese mix named Sharli, who owned his family - not the other way around, but he was extremely well behaved and beautiful (Sob). Two times in my life, I have had german shepherd, but I'm even more fascinated by wolves! It would be a shame to domasticate a wolve - even if it could be done - so ... But I do have the right to dream!

Most of my life, I've had cats, kittens, and a couple of dogs. But, I've mostly had cats. I have four now. But, the oldest cat is sulking, and she refuses to eat any food. The other three love to play together. Their constantly wrestling with each other.

I would love to have a bunny, horse, and deer. Their my favorite animals that I would love to have as pets. If I could, I would go horseback riding all the time. It must be so neat to live on a horse ranch. To be able to ride whenever you want to.

I have two dogs, both cross breeds. I've just got one of them, a black puppy called Snuffles. eby the size of his paws he's going to be huge... Never had a big dog before. The other is a cross breed terrier, called Muppet. He lives up to his name well!

I've also got three cats - Orion, Leo and Pegasus. (Yes, my mother love constellations)

I have a puppy called Jack, a cross breed - an odd cross breed, he looks like a cross between an alsation and a jack russel.

I have a black carnivorous lop-eared male bunny called Troubles, who has violent tendencies and hates everyone.
And Tommy the cat. My friend gave Tommy to me when his cat had kittens and he told me that Tommy was a boy but Tommy turned out to be a girl.

I would like to have a rat, ferret, gorilla, chinchilla, jaguar, vulture, angler fish, whale, and sloth, but unfortunately I think it would be illegal for me to keep most of those animals in my house.

I would like in particular a turtle, an old friend had one who lived in the back yard in an enclosure and I was fascinated by this creature.
