And it's time to start a new thread to discuss what movies have we seen. The old thread is right
here - feel free to refer to it or quote from it and enjoy your discussion here
I've watched
Love Actually for like the twentieth time. It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy watching all those people who are in love. And the performances, I think, are just great. Doesn't hurt that we have Alan Rickman in it, too.
So, what movie have you seen today?

We watched
Pan's Labyrinth last night. I'm sorry, but I really didn't like it all that much (and neither did my hubby-- for once, we actually agree, although he wasn't freaked out by it like I was). I understand that Ofelia wanted to escape and all and got the parallelism and everything but I couldn't get past the violence and gruesomeness of the movie. And, I thought that Pan dude was really creepy.

We finished up watching Hotel Rwanda in my History class yesterday. It was a very good movie, but hard to watch because of the violence. I don't get affected by many movies, but because I was pretty ignorant about the genocide in Rwanda, this movie taught me a lot and made me really see how serious genocide is and was.

I saw Ratatouille again the other day.
This is one of my favorite movies

I have the two-disc collectors edition DVD
Anyhows I saw
The Flintstones movie again. I still havent seen the sequel in Rock Vegas but I love this movie and how they adapted the classic cartoon into big screen format. In my opinion it worked really well & the movie is just fun anyways

The DVD has neat bonus features, too.

I just saw Remember the Titans again for the millionth time. I love that movie and when I found out that I had to do a paper on it, I was thrilled because I got an excuse to watch it.

And I caught part of Father of the Bride Part 1 on TV, which is another good movie.

Queen of the Damned Pretty decent for a vampire movie (it did at least have a plot), but far from a great movie.
Christine This wasn't quite as scary as it could've been, but that seems to be the case with Stephen King movies/books.
Stepford Wives (1975) It was interesting to see the difference between this one and the newer version which I'd seen sometime earlier this year. I think this one was a bit subtler
National Velvet I enjoyed this one. It was very sweet and fun. I couldn't believe how young Elizabeth Taylor and Angela Lansbury looked in the movie.
The Yearling This was exactly what I thought it would be, an excellent coming of age sort of tale.
Old Yeller and Savage Sam weren't as good as I thought they would be. Somehow they just didn't really have the emotional impact I thought they would.

I watched
American Gangster with Denzel Washington, it's a wonderfully realistic and awesome movie!!
Also,

THE SAVAGES **1/2
Cast: Laura Linney, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Philip Bosco, Peter Friedman, Debra Monk, Margo Martindale.
Dir: Tamara Jenkins.
Although it is very well-acted, well-directed and well-written, there's nothing really extraordinary with Tamara Jenkins' latest effort. It tries hard to be both a family drama and a quirky, brainy comedy. But ends up not being really outstanding at both. It was all just...fine. Linney, Hoffman and Bosco make it interesting to watch.

Hugh Laurie took a tiny throw-away role in that movie and created a hilarious, and ultimately, humane character that rises above the original that Austen created. It is not often that happens.

Ocean's Eleven on DVD *again*. I still havent seen the sequels ... are they good? It's an interesting movie and not too intellectually or emotionally demanding lol which is good because sometimes it's nice to watch something that doesnt require any effort or make you cry

This week I saw a couple of Uk releases.
21 I enjoyed it, however they could have cut the length a bit. I actually read the "true" story a couple of years ago, & the film certainly added lots to make the story more interesting. In reality the MIT students had to practically shout out- 'look we've been cleaning up Vegus for ages & you haven't noticed'!
Street kings something about this film just didn't work. I can't put my finger on it, maybe it was the plot holes, or perhaps the length, but it just didn't quite work.
In Bruges Awesome

Very funny, very violent, superb city, superb cast, great script

At the moment I'm listening/watching GoF on t.v. It's definitely my least favorite HP movie, but I'm watching it anyways. Gambon is far too dramatic and angry in this film. I just got to the part where Harry's name came out of the Goblet, and I had forgotten just how angry Gambon was in this film until now.

I saw this movie called Imagine you and me. It was like some sort of Love actually-like film. I mean, it had the main pairing (although they were two girls in this one), the old, married and disfunctional couple, two little kiddies who were super cute and smart, a really nice soundtrack and the usual English humor (or lack thereoff sometimes, you still can tell it is English). Whatever! It was really too cheesy for me, and I could have done without all the sex jokes/references. So, all in all, I wouldn't rewatch it.

Now I am fully watching GOF! But now all I can think about is how horrible Cedric (Robert Pattinson) is going to be as Edward!

Father of the Bride I and II was on last night and
16 candles was on tonight so of course I had to watch for the billionth time.
Walk the line I didn't realize that I knew that many Johnny Cash songs. I definitely didn't know anything about his life (other than the all in black thing). That really made the movie very interesting for me, though I have no idea how accurate it was.
Cutting Edge III I'd seen the first two a while back and enjoyed them so I figured I should watch this one as well. It was cute and sweet and extremely predictable but that works for this type of movie.
Princess It was exceedingly cheesy, poorly acted, and had numerous not so great CGI. Nonetheless the storyline was cute and enough to sustain the movie.

Apr 26 2008, 11:43 PM
Eugh, I saw the commercials for Princess, and it seemed like a typical cheesy ABC Family movie. XD
Anyway, I watched the last half hour of Goblet of Fire, as it was on TV. ^_^

I forgot I also watched the Black Cauldron today! I love that movie, but it makes me feel so very old. Hehe, who else thinks that Helena should have smacked the hell out of Tarold when he said "What do/can girls know about swords?"?

My Boy Jack was just on TV here

It was very emotional, especially the family's reactions after they found out he had died. I just know I'm going to be an emotional wreck after Dobby dies in the movies. The reactions of the survivors always gets to me more than the deaths themselves

I watched
Flushed Away on DVD again lol. I love this animation, it has a totally awesome cast, the sound track rocks and the story is great, too. It has laugh out loud moments but also has real depth to it. And of course the singing slugs are totally cool lol

And, the DVD has neat bonus features, too

DVD: Pitch Black. I wasn't sure if this would be any good, but gave it a shot. Vim Disel is GRRRR Vim Disel. Not bad for an Indy, but when I was trying to watch the extras with Vim talking about the film I got very bored.

Sethtaylorsummer, I'm soo jealous! I wanna see it too..the poem alone made me sad..
I watched
Babel last night (well, half of it actually..) I didn't quite understand it since it was already 1 hour into the movie..so I checked it out at Wikipedia and learn what the whole movie was all about..looked really interesting. I usually would avoid such movies as it's too heavy sometimes..but I always ended up watching them cause it's always good..maybe I was really in the mood for it..

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I can never watch this movie too many times even if I know all the lines by heart. I'm so excited for the "second" one coming out soon!!

And now,
Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. I haven't seen this in forever. Somehow I cannot get the image of Johnny Depp as a bloodthirsty barber out of my head though.

Three great mvoeis on Tv yesterday, so of course I had to watch.
Mrs. Doubtfire I love this movie! there's just something so cute and sweet about it, along with it's funny moments.
Selena The music and story (esp. as it's based on a real person) are heart wrenchingly great in this movie and I could watch it a thousand times.
Stepmom Another tear jerker type movie that I just love and can't help crying while watching.

Freaky Friday. The remake. I think it's hilarious. One of the movies with Lindsay Lohan that I can tolerate.

Well we had a huge day of movies yesterday since it was school holidays and a not very nice day.
So, we first watched
Night at the Museum, which is always entertaining, especially now that my kids have moved on from watching it every day to just once in a while

Then it was the 1995 BBC
Pride and Prejudice. I love that version it's just so faithful to the books but lively and charming as well

Then I watched
Mr Brooks, which is creepy and weird and both Kevin Costner and William Hurt were brilliant. It played out nothing like I expected at the start. But I did work it out how it would play by about halfway through.
And finally by way of settling down I watched
PoA for dessert.

I saw
Over The Hedge on DVD. I've seen this movie a couple times at a friends house but, this time I watched it at home which meant that I could watch all the bonus features, too lol
It has an awesome cast, and the animation is really good, I think it was probably one of the best (like using technology for realism) before Ratatouille came along. The sound track rocks and I just love the story, it's funny & sweet & has depth. And the animals are so cute lol

(No one else is watching movies?)
I saw
Sky High which I thought was really good in places but less good in others but, overall it was a good movie, and the stunt effects are cool.
