I've got my stuff and am ready to get the ball rolling!

I'm planning on doing a House Unity Bracelet. If I find a way to create more time I'll make a Hufflepuff one as well.

I really can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with!
Quietish
Well I've made lots of these bracelets already, but I have several that need to be finished on account of having started them for video-making purposes.

(Video of tutorial coming soon, promise!)

This first one isn't turning out too well. In the beginning, after the braid it looks a mess, lol. I wasn't doing it as tight as I thought. But, it's starting to look normal now. So, once I'm done this one, I'm going to make more. Yay!!!
Quietish
You'll catch on quick, for sure! I like to give the knots a bit of an extra tug to be sure it's all even.

I realized what I did wrong. *doh* When you said alternate to make sure there's enough at the end, I thought you meant knot the first strand of MC, then the second, rather than do the first 25 knots with the first strand, then alternate that way, lol.

I have to say you do get an interesting bracelet alternating the wrong way. biggrin.gif
As_Weasley_as_I_wannabe
My goodness, that must have taken quite a bit of time - to alternate between each knot! I'm glad you're back on track now. thumbup.gif

It's actually not as long as you'd think, lol. I finished it pretty quickly. Once my camera batteries are charged I'll post a pic.

I'm glad I'm back on track too. Now, I'm going to try a unity house one.

Oh man, maybe I needed to be a bit more clear!! Yeah by having two strands, it keeps you from running out of thread (without having super super long strands) and then it gives you something substantial to knot around too. I'm sure it looked good anyway though smile.gif

Well I'm excited because I finally bought my black and yellow floss, except they didnt have yellow rolleyes.gif so I had to choose between borderline browns, golds or a yellow so pale it looked like cream next to the black. So I went with a gold. The guy selling the embroidery floss asked what it's for so I said a bracelet and he insisted that I need a third color & I'm like, no I just want yellow (which you dont have) and black. I almost explained about House colors but, I decided it would get too complicated lol. So I can finally get started now. Looking at everyone's pics, I have a lot of catching up to do but I'm excited to be here even though I'm late.
Quietish
How wierd that they didn't have yellow! What sort of shop were you in?
Moose_Starr
I was in a sort of market lol. I had to be someplace & there happened to be a market that I had to pretty much go past and I saw this guy selling ribbons and zippers and stuff, and he had a reasonably huge selection of embroidery floss but no yellow.
So I havent made much progress and having never Crafted Along before I'm not sure if I'm asking this in the right place but, I dont understand the tutorial concerning the 25 knots. unsure.gif I understand the three strands, & short end and long end. But, where do I put 25 knots of main color, are they all on one strand, or 25 knots each on three strands or 25 rows of knots uniformly across the strands?

My first one didn't turn out as nice as I wanted. I added a few beads, which was probably a mistake since I've not made a bracelet with this pattern.

I also had to clip my nails, since I found that long nails kept getting in the way.

I'll finish the one I've just started and put up a picture. Then I think I'll make a few more with charms and see how they look.

Hi Moose-Starr! *waves* Hopefully I'll be able to help you out. Using one of the MC strands, you tie 25 knots around all of the other strands. When it comes time for the contrasting color, you do the same thing - tie the knots around all of the other strands. Good luck with your first Craft-Along item! thumbup.gif
Quietish
Hey Moose_Star,

Yeah, Jenn is right. In the vid I was speaking about the pattern as written in the tutorial, where you start by making 25 knots around the other strands before beginning the stripe pattern. I hope that makes sense smile.gif Make sure you check the written tutorial too smile.gif

TOTALLY want to see that smile.gif

So I am somewhat excited because I made my bracelet last night. Thanks you guys for being so patient lol & explaining the knots. The yellow doesnt look so bad now that it's a bracelet. Like it did look too gold-y but with the black of CC it looks alright. So I'll probably try to make another Hufflepuff bracelet because I think I need to tie the knots a little tighter because in places there's a hint of black shows through.
This was a lot of fun.

Yay! I'm glad you got the hang of it! And they're certainly quick enough that you can make as many as you want smile.gif

Hi everyone! I haven't gotten started yet, but we're going back to the cottage this weekend and I firmly intend to bring my flosses with me thumbup.gif I'll keep you updated!

Perfect for a little relaxation! smile.gif

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I found a great friendship braclet site that I love. It gave me tons of ideas and explains things well. Here's the link: www.geocities.com/hbernb
Josée~Madalia
The author actually made another site to replace the one you have just linked: http://hbernb.atspace.com/index.html

And I agree, it's rather full of ideas for friendship bracelets! smile.gif
Apple
Here are the bracelets that we are making at the moment.
Bracelets in progress
The blue, purple and pink one is my daughter's and the purple, green and orange one is my son's.
The other one is mine. I am trying to do the more normal friendship bracelet that Quietish showed in the video.

Those are looking great, Apple! Your kids should be so proud of their accomplishment!! Great colors, too.
