I started out this morning allowing myself and hour to work on the Craft-along before I got busy with domestic duties. Imagine my surprise when a little over half an hour later I was finished!

Needless to say, I'll be moving on to Hufflepuff soon!
Quietish
Wow, you're fast biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I like the pattern smile.gif

So does the bracelet feel super thick with all those strands?
As_Weasley_as_I_wannabe
Not at all! I compensated for the extra strands by knotting a little tighter than normal, so it feels just fine!
Quietish
I want a House Unity Bracelet now!
Overcast
I finished four so far. Jenn inspired me and I made a Unity house bracelet as well. The one that looks like a reverse Gryffindor is really Brubu (one of the houses at Terminus). I only had a really bright orange to work with and it looks gold. I need to get another orange color. I also tried one with a darker red. Then there's a Hufflepuff! Yay, Hufflepuff!!! badger.gif

edit: to add Hufflepuff pic.
As_Weasley_as_I_wannabe
Great job, Overcast! I love the colors you used - they're so vivid. Now you've inspired me wink.gif

*trots off to make a Huffpuff bracelet*
Overcast
Thanks! This is so addicting. I think I'm going to have a basket full of them by August!
Quietish
Those are EXCELLENT!! I had forgotten about the Terminus colors. I should make me one. And I definitely need a House Unity!
Overcast
Oh, and I also used crochet thread for some of them. Trying to use what I have, because I have a ton of it, lol. Then I used regular yarn for the Brubu one. Makes a chunky bracelet. So, I'm kinda experimenting with sizes. Again, so addicting!
Alatarielle
here's my first try smile.gif

Cheers,
Fran

That's the way I like to work too.. Use what I have.
Overcast
Awesome, Fran! Keep it up! Excellent bracelet!

It's so much cheaper, too. I just need to get a decent orange color though.
Moose_Starr
So, looking at Alatarielle's pic, I notice it has this cool spiral effect going on. Mine doesnt have that. What did I do wrong? Alas I cant post pics because I dont have a digital camera, and my scanner's not compatible with this computer...
Quietish
Moose,

Were you alternating threads every other knot? If you do the knots in a long section of color with the same thread, the knots form a spiral.

thanks biggrin.gif
I'm going to try a couple more, maybe in Terminus colour when I've got more time. Right now I still have project and exams for Uni to finish.

Yes I was alternating the MC every other knot. Like I had two yellow strands, and one black. So, I tied a knot with the first yellow strand around one yellow & one black strand, then I took the other yellow strand & did the same, then went back to the first yelloe strand for knotting, & so on, for 25 knots.
So, if I tie 25 knots of yellow along the black, and then 25 along the yellow, it will spiral? Wont I end up with like three seperate lines of knots though?
conf.gif
lol maybe I should just try it & see what happens & quit asking dumb questions.
Josée~Madalia
Moose, if you tie the 25 knots with the same yellow thread, it'll form one single line spiralling around your bracelet. It's hard to "see" what you mean by three seperate lines, but as there will only be one line if you use the same thread, I think I'm OK saying no, there won't be three seperate lines smile.gif
Quietish
Hey Moose,

For this design, you always knot your working thread around all the other threads at the same time.

Although, now I'm curious to see what would happen if we did what you suggest. Hmmm ;)
Moose_Starr
Last night (I dont sleep lol) I made my second attempt at this bracelet making, & I did like you guys said (thank you so much for the advice) and it spiralled. I think I need to make some more bracelets because the beginning of this one, the spirals kind of wobble but toward the end it spirals uniformly so I guess I need to work on my knotting technique, it would seem it improved toward the end of the bracelet.

lol ... so now I'm curious too. If I have enough embroidery floss left when I'm done making spirally bracelets I might try that, I guess if it just makes like three lines of knots, they could be braided.

One curious fact that fascinated me, when I made the first bracelet, using alternating MC, it made a bracelet two times as long as the spiralling one. So on my right wrist I have the original which goes twice round my wrist & is a perfect length for that, & the spiral one on my left wrist is a perfect fit also but just ties around *normally*. I used the same pattern so I guess the spirals make it shorter (erm, I'm rambling) blush.gif

I have a pic of my house unity bracelet I have to upload. I made it in a totally different, more complicated way that I learned when I was younger. smile.gif
Quietish
Cool, can't wait to see it smile.gif
Iheartprofessorsnape
I decided to make a bracelet, only instead of going around all the threads at the same time, I did my knots on each individual thread.

As_Weasley_as_I_wannabe
Very nice, Ihearprofessorsnape! It turned out looking like the PS/SS style house scarves done on an angle, didn't it? Great job!! thumbup.gif
Quietish
I love it, Iheartprofessorsnape! smile.gif
t0rri3
That looks really pretty! smile.gif I promise that I'm going to upload pics of mine anytime, just need to find batteries.
Quietish
Can't wait to see, Torrie!
t0rri3
You're probably expecting something amazing since it took me so long to upload them. Anyways, here are my two bracelets.

(pretty sock! biggrin.gif)

As_Weasley_as_I_wannabe
Great job, Torrie! I love your version of the House Unity bracelet!! thumbup.gif

This is one that Abbey/Iheartprofessorsnape made for me "Hufflepuff with a hint of Ravenclaw"

Thank you Abbey, its beautiful. flowers.gif
As_Weasley_as_I_wannabe
Wow! great job, Abbey thumbup.gif

Congrats to you, Dreamteam - nothing beats getting a bit of squee.gif mail!
t0rri3
I really like that! How did you, or should I say Iheartproffessorsnape, make that? Is there a tutorial on how because I'd love to make it. biggrin.gif
JaneMarple9
I am afraid, though I am avid embroiderer, I never got the hang of "cotton" friendship bracelets and knotting! blush.gif So instead, I've made some with tiny sead beads dance.gif

The first is a Gryffindor bracelet. The second picture is the Hufflepuff bracelet and Ravenclaw bracelet. While the last picture is the Gryffindor bracelet (again alion.gif ) and Slytherin. I put some charms on them too. I've made some for Christmas presents smile.gif

t0rri3
Those look really pretty JaneMarple9! woohoo.gif
Moose_Starr
Alas I cant post pics but, yesterday I was talking to my mom and she said *Ooh are those new bracelets?* (I have the spiralled one on my left wrist & the other on my right) (I still didnt make a third bracelet like I intend doing) and I said yes & she said they're really nice. So a big *thank you* to the Crafty Witches for the tutorial and the whole idea of a Craft Along because not only is it fun and educational, but I have *remarkable* bracelets now cool.gif
SabrinaDrolet14
I absolutely LOVE this idea! so awsome! this is definitly going to be my summer project! thanks sooo much crafty witches!

Sorry I've been so absent, guys.. I have had a couple of completely crazy weeks.

However, you all are doing AWESOME on your bracelets! I'm so glad you're enjoying this project smile.gif I will be making a bunch more myself before Terminus.
