What is Love? What do you think about 'love' in the book. Or romances you wished that happined. Be creative. smile.gif

"..suddenly Harry's mind was teeming with memories that were not his: a hood-nosed man was shouting at a cowering woman, while a small dark-hairedboy cried in a corner... A greasy-haired teenager sat alone in a dark bedroom, pointing his wand at the ceiling, shooting down flies...A girl was laughing as a scrawney boy tried to mount a bucking broomstick -"

What is love?

short answer, and what I teach my daughter...love says to your heart i need you because i love you not i love you because i need you.
long answer: love is a smile that takes your breath away, trust beyond measure, knowing that you can be you always without fear, that you will be cared for and repected ALWAYS even when times i hard. that it is ok to disagree because real love is safe....it is feeling like you cant feel where you end and the other begins. it is the sun after it rains and the dawn after a storm.

that the romantic in me...i do teach my kids that while love is the above it also needs you to love yourself and respect yourself...

as for love in the book, I would have loved to see more of the harry/ginny and ron/hermione courship in the epilogue.

on a side note, about love, I just watched the move Love Actually and while I really ejoyed it, the Potter freak in me reared its head, and when Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson, who play husband and wife in the movie if you have not seen it, were shown in bed together I yelled to my husband "ewwwwww Snape and Trelawny are in bed together"

I think this would be my best answer:

"Love is patient; love is kind

and envies no one.

Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;

never selfish, not quick to take offense.

There is nothing love cannot face;

there is no limit to its faith,

its hope, and endurance.

In a word, there are three things

that last forever: faith, hope, and love;

but the greatest of them all is love. "~ 1 Corinthians 13 ~

Love is often missunderstood. Most people reffer to romantic love as if it were the only kind of love out there. Then love, including romantic love, is cheapiffied (I like the way that sounds). I say we should stop this abussive behaviour towards love...what would happen if love got tired of us?

I think the books portray love from many angles and it is something I am glad JKR did. We have romantic love, platonic love, family love, sick love, mentor-pupil love and I could go on and on. But I think one of the greatest examples are Lily's love for her kid, and Harry's love and respect for life.

Love is one of the strongest emotions known to man. It allows a person to look past the outside facade and search the soul...and still be unconditional about what is found. Books and books have been written about various aspects of love....and I'm sure the subject has barely been scratched.

Well, in the Harry Potter series, love is one of the underlying themes throughout the whole series. And yet, it is also an intertwining plot point all by itself. I think it definitely makes the series. I really liked how 'love' in the series was shown on both the romantic side and also on the family-type side, if that makes sense.
