What happened to Neville

Why was Neville so lost as a child

<post>I was just thinking what happened to Neville. As a child he would always forget things and was not really able to do magic. Everyone in his family thought that he may not be a wizard. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this?

I think neville may have had his memory modified a little to much when his parents were tortured. Then as he grew older the spell may have begin to wear off! Can that happen?

Just wondering</post>

What caused Harry to love Ginny?

<post>I never quite understood. They were far apart in PS/SS because she didn't go to school with him. In CoS, she was scared (in a fangirl way) of him and when he saved her, they were friends. Then, in HBP, she suddenly becomes this popular guy-magnet and Harry doesnt have a chance (well, AFTERwards he does)
What caused Harry and Ginny to like each other?
I just found it very random.</post>

What is Your Opinion of Severus Snape?

Did he Redeem Himself?

 <post>
Opinions of our favorite Potions Master seem to be as varied as our opinions of our favorite Headmaster. The big question seems to be: Severus Snape : Did he really redeem himself for his earlier actions? What do you think?

Fully Redeemed: Severus completely redeemed himself. He became a totally different person than he had been during his Death Eater days.

Mostly Redeemed: Severus was a tortured, embittered man. His actions toward the students show that he was not fully redeemed, but he did the best he could.

Partially Redeemed: Snape only cared that his actions had caused Lily's death. He didn't even care that her husband and son were killed. All of his actions that can be considered good were to make it up to Lily. In all other ways he remained unchanged.

Unredeemed: Redemption requires repentance and Snape shows no signs that he ever repented of his Death Eater activities or that he had seen the error of his ways. If Voldemort had not threatened Lily he would have remained a faithful Death Eater to the end.

Other: I'll explain in my post.</post>

Is the Order in DH lax about security?

<post>When Moody explains the seven Potters plan to Harry he says he expects there to be 'a couple of Death Eaters patrolling the skies in this general area'. I suppose there could have also been Death Eaters spying on 4PD on land from just outside the range of the protective charm.

Yet the Order does the following:
- Bring a roaring flying motorbike.
- After the decoys are disguised and when they are all outside, Hagrid addresses Harry by name, Tonks addresses Ron by name. Bill and Kingsley assist Fleur and Hermione respectively onto the thestrals. Also, while all the fake Harrys are carrying cages with stuffed owls in them, only the real Harry is carrying a Firebolt. Had the DEs been spying and listening with extendable ears (or their equivalent) they would have known who the real Harry was long before Harry disarmed Stan.
- As they leave, Moody shouts that they would meet at the Burrow.

I wonder about the protective spells on the Order safe-houses and the Burrow. Somehow nobody at the wedding was concerned about guests, waitstaff or bandmembers being Polyjuiced or otherwise impersonated so I would guess the protection was somehow keyed to individuals (perhaps the wedding invitations contained appropriate magical keys?). Yet the speed in which the protection is broken once Scrimgeour is killed suggests that part of the protection relied on the Ministry - despite the suspicion under which the Ministry was held by the Order.

Then there is the matter of mutual identification. When Lupin arrives at 12GP, almost all the information he gives to identify himself is a matter of public record (his being a werewolf, his marriage to Tonks, the form of Harry's Patronus) and the rest - his nickname and the creation of the Marauders' Map - are things that Snape knows and could have told the DEs. (Edit: Peter knows that too.) He does not tell Harry anything private that only he and the trio knew. Also, Lupin makes no effort to verify the trio aren't DEs that Snape smuggled into 12GP.

Also, the protections set against Snape are described as protections intended to prevent him from speaking the location of 12GP, but what about writing it down?

Fortunately the DEs weren't trying to impersonate anyone on the Order/trio side, nor did they do any serious spying, and Snape kept the secrecy of 12GP for his own reasons.</post>
