I feel like such a noob for asking this [and im not! ive been reading these books since I was in the third grade!]
But...did Dumbledore go to Hogwarts??I'm pretty sure he did, but I can't for the life of me remember what House he was sorted in!?
So please, can someone answer this for me.

He did indeed go to Hogwarts, and I'm pretty sure that Hermione tells us at some point during PS that he was in Gryffindor. Other evidence that he is a Gryffindor is that he used Gryffindor's sword to bust open the Gaunt's Ring. I think only a Gryffindor can wield the sword, although- of course- non Gryffindors can hold it.

I must've missed something when I asked myself this question.

"There he turned its pages, searching, until he finally found, at the front of the book, the date that it had been published. It was nearly fifty years old. Neither his father, nor his father's friends, had been at Hogwarts fifty years ago." -HBP, about the Advanced Potions Book.

Snape was in the same year as his father, so if Snape owned that book, it couldn't be fifty years old, could it?

I feel stupid, can someone please answer me? Please!

The best explanation I have seen was that it probably belonged to his mother and was a hand-me-down. She would have been at Hogwarts about that time.
