Here we have an invitation from Albus Dumbledore himself to speculate upon the possibilities why a witch never claimed to own the Elder Wand.

It had always been a wizard - be it Emeric the Evil or Loxias or Barnabas Deverill or Godelot - who boasted about the Wand of Destiny that they held in their hands and also met their sticky ends as a result. bruce.gif
Surely Dumbledore wouldn't have raised this question if it had not struck his fancy ? So let us ask ourselves why the female magical community has stayed away from the dubious honour of claiming ownership of the Deathstick.

Why do you think a woman never said that she was the owner of the most powerful wand there was ? ponder.gif

the most probable answer is simple, possibly slightly dirty, and hopefully only FULLY understood by the older members:

its of no concern to women how powerfull their wands are. women know better than anyone that the wand is only as good as its wizard. its usually only MEN who go bragging about their tools and devices. women just dont see the need. spittake.gif

Isn't that a little simplistic, Stitch? lol.gif

Have there been no power-mad witches out there who would have loved to own the wand? Bella would have, I think. I history shows that human nature lets women be as a vile as men when it comes to seeking power. Was the wizarding world full of MCPs (male chauvinist pigs) in the older days? They've had witches in some very powerful positions, and that goes back pretty well in their history.

I think in general men have a tendency to want to compete or prove their power more than women. I know there would have been witches in the wizarding world who would have wanted it desperately, but I think men may focus on being in control a bit more than women and therefor would have sought the wand in greater numbers than females.
